Bonkers About Batteries

Round Four

It seems that the river of bizarre batteries runs deep and wide. Its flow continues unabated. Our conduit for the first offering this time is the ever keen Johnny 5. His finely tuned senses trapped this gem in the hallowed halls of Great Portland Street Hospital in London (where most celebs go to have their babies delivered - apparently):

Have you ever come across one of those? No? Well neither had the Gobmeister. Who knows? That could have fallen out of the pocket of someone really famous!

Spinmeister Robert gets the credit for this next one. He had a work colleague keep a look-out while abroad (in the Far East?). Upon returning he reported having sighted "Batronic" batteries, but was unable to bring them back. No matter, The Spinmeister located this picture of some on t'internet:

Excellent! You see what can be achieved with a little help from one's friends? Let that be an encouragement to you to enlist your friends and family in the quest! By the way, observe how perfectly the top of the packaging blends in with the background colour of this webpage!

Right, this next one is a real treat. Go get yourself a cold drink, then sit back and enjoy this really juicy offering brought to you by The Gobmeister himself.

On a visit to his local DIY shop in Corringham, The Gobmeister spotted an electronic fly / wasp swatter on promotion in the window (soon to be featured in "GobFM Recommends"). A snip at £5.95 - including batteries. Irresistable. With baited breath he returned to work to open the packet. The prize? Not only a new battery brand for the collection, but also a superb example of foreigners attempting English. First, the picture:

Jinfu......., nice! And the dodgy English?

Caution: Install correctly according to the marks of positive pole and negative pole shown on the materials. Do not recharge, strip or burn up. Do not use with used battery. Avoid from exploding and flowing electrolytic liquid out.

Hats off to Johnny Foreigner, eh? Best £5.95 The Gobmeister has spent for ages!

Two more from Johnny 5 now. The first is the brand of batteries supplied with the remote control for his Nan & Grandad's new widescreen TV.

Which begs the inevitable question: Will "lonlife" have a long life?

Johnny 5's Dad's multimeter yielded up this next one:

gettop.jpg

Ah! At last a PP3 to join the burgeoning ranks of AA & AAA rarities. Close inspection reveals the "GETTOP" to be a brand from those industrious fellows at Hi-Watt (who we have encountered before).

Staying with the PP3 format, The Gobmeister found these in a "Lidl" store in Pitsea (near Basildon, Essex):

Well that pretty much wraps things up for this round. Hope you enjoyed these latest offerings. Keep 'em coming folks! Gob bless!
