Okay, so that was kinda pinched from the "Johnny English" film. But hey, what's good enough for Rowan Atkinson is good enough for The Gobmeister. After all, the latter has a much greater ego to maintain!
So, yes! Your heroic Gobmeister did it! A vertical sheer drop of some 120 feet failed to melt the cast iron resolve of your intrepid presenter and webmaster. He abseiled the perilous edifice with remarkable skill and aplomb. The resultant boost to his already gargantuan ego is matched only by his heartfelt gratitude to all of his generous friends, colleagues, family, patients, and sundry admirers who kindly sponsored him to undertake this life-or-death mission. Thanks especially to his beautiful and talented wife Denise for being the Official GobFM photographer and "minder" for the event; to Brian & Kathy for being the Official GobFM videographers; and to Stewart "Mr.5" Chalk for being assistant "minder" and all round good egg. Honorable mentions also to Barbara and Jean from Belson and Sons Opticians in Corringham for coming down to support the effort, and to Seth Belson for also taking the challenge.

If you were kind enough to sponsor The Gobmeister for his heroic descent but have not yet stumped up the dough, then please do so a.s.a.p.. He has in fact already given the full amount in cash to the event organisers (RNIB), so although the Gobmeister would prefer you to settle with cash, you may also settle by cheque made out to his agent (Mr.G.M.Wallis).
Thanks! |
