Credo

It goes something like this:

How many human beings have ever lived? Say 20 billion. Every one has gone from womb to tomb: rich, poor, religious leaders, everyone. Except One, who was put in the tomb but didn't stay there.*
Everyone recognizes that this was a unique person. Without writing a book, getting elected, travelling widely, or firing a shot, this single individual has changed the world more than anyone else, and is universally respected.**
He is on record as saying things that would be completely loopy coming from anyone who wasn't the Son of God, for example:

I am the way, the truth and life. No-one comes to the Father except by me.

And

Come to me ... and I will give you rest for your souls.

This same Individual somehow manages to incorporate The Church of England into His divine purposes (to give just one example), hinting at depths of irony and a dry humour that few suspect a Deity capable of.
So is he, or isn't he? The One?

* This is a modern argument -- the fact of the resurrection changes everything.

** Perhaps this is a post-modern argument, based on character and authenticity.
