Backlist

Thanks to the wonders of Amazon, most of my out-of-print books have miraculously appeared back on sale. So there is life after death. Here are some of them: one of them, the Spanish one, I'm not even sure I wrote, but being written by someone who shares my name, it's doubtless good stuff.

Cathy's Story: Learning to forgive

Christian Focus Publications produced and sold out of two editions of this little book. It tells the story of my friend Cathy Church, a missionary nurse who worked in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Cambodia.

She had a powerful story of how God helped her to forgive some terrible things that happened to her (she was, for example, caught up in a war in Sri Lanka), and it was a privilege to be able to write her story up.

I re-read this book recently and still liked it! There's also an abridged audio version of the book available on the web.

The World Christian Starter Kit

I first wrote this basic introduction to Christian missions as a twenty-three-year-old, reflecting my own learning curve. It was published when I was twenty-four and sold tens of thousands of copies. I know of Russian, Spanish, Korean, and Indonesian translations, among others. I still get some royalties from foreign editions of this book each year, two decades after it was first published and fifteen or so years since the last update.

It's well out-of-date now, mainly thanks to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent rapid growth of the Church in countries previously excluded to the Christian movement, such as Albania and the former Soviet Central Asia. The Briefings update and develop many of the themes in the Starter Kit.

This is a link to what may be the Spanish translation of the World Christian Starter Kit, Misiones...el Plan de Dios / Missions...the Plan of God.

100 Days

This book enables you to pray in an informed way for the entire world in 100 days (or 200 if you take the double-page spreads more slowly).

The publishers suggested I did this project as part of the Operation World suite of prayer materials. Taking the final pre-publication draft of the 2001 Operation World, I extracted this material at the same time as I was compiling OW's index.

It was designed for a youth market, but since it uses lots of large print, it found a small but enthusiastic following among old ladies. I have also known it being torn up and passed around in large prayer meetings as a way of getting the whole meeting to pray for the globe. I don't mind this, so long as people buy another copy afterwards. So if you've torn up your copy in a fit of corporate intercessory enthusiasm, here's where you can restock.
