SEASON 2007/0810/02/08Sorry website has not been updated for a while..up to date now Feb 3rd heavy cup defeat 1-6 to RockyFerry Social, Consolation goal from Ray. One game in January losing 1-3 at home to Irby, Libs goal scored by Ray. One game in December winning 3-0 away to Sandbrook, Hatrick for Machin. On Saturday 9th Feb the Vets were beaten 1-4 25/11/07Disappointing home defeat to St Josephs 2-4, Libs goals from D Curran and King On Saturday the Vets were beaten 5-10 at home to Port Sunlight 18/11/07Great cup win for the Libs 5-0 at home to Heygarth Utd, goals from Corless (2), Machin, Burkett, King Saturday saw the Vets draw disappointedly 2-2 04/11/07The Libs went down 1-2 at home to Ultraseal, Libs goal coming from Bromsgrove Yesterday saw the Vets at home to Waterside O.B., another Liverpool side. The vets played their best football of the season in the first half against a more than decent side, and deserved their 1:0 lead at half time from a John Walsh effort. King added a second on the hour, which looked as though it would put the game beyond Waterside's reach. Waterside got one back from a corner, and then a second when a diverted header from Phil, wrong footed Dereck in goal. Luckily the younger Bromsgrove was on hand to win the game for the Vets witha powerful drive with ten minutes remaining 28/10/07 The Libs took a hammering in the cup at home to Irby 2-6,the Libs goals coming from Corless and Bromsgrove The Vets took on Halton Castle a team from the West Derby area, that we haven't come across before. After generally controlling the game, the Vets fell to two swift counter attacking moves around the half hour mark, Halton taking full advantage of the experimental 3 man backline. A third goal on the hour mark should have killed the game off, but the Vets could count themselves unfortunate to be in arrears. A fine individual effort from Walsh 12 minutes from time, gave the Vets a lifetime, and a hooked goal from Savvo with six left gave them hope. With 30 seconds remaining King grabbed the equaliser to make it 3:3 as Steve Hayes had flung a last ditch cross in. All in all, a very decent game 21/10/07A brillant cup win against Division 1 team Heygarth on penalties, 1-1, after extra time goal from Corless 14/10/07The Vets needed a second half comeback again as they ran out 8 : 4 winners against Rockville of Wallasey Despite an early lead the Vets came under increasing pressure in the first half. A series of corners that were dropped into the 6 yard box caused panic to break out, and the Vets simply lost their composure in the middle of the park. Trailing 3 : 4 at half time, alterations after the break brought an early equaliser for Gary Grant who drove home with his first kick of game. The Vets took control of the game from this point, assisted by hatricks by Jason King and Colin, and were well worth their victory by the end 07/10/07A good performance from the Libs this week saw us draw 1-1 away at Argyll, goal from Leslie The vets lost 4-1 at home to Glenavon 01/10/07After a couple of weeks off the Libs were back with a win away 2-1 at St Josephs (who included Peter Davenport in their team), our goals coming from Corless and East, The Vets returned with a home game against long established Wirral Vets. The Libs looked lively early on but squandered the best of the chances with the Wirral keeper pulling off a couple of excellent saves. Wirral got a lucky opener when a cross/shot drifted in , then took advantage of some shambolic defending to race into a three nil lead midway through the first half. The Libs continued to create chances, but it was late in the first half before they pulled one back. In the second half, a Beckhamesque free kick from Walsh pulled the Libs back into the game, but it wasn't until the dying seconds, despite pressure. that the Libs nabbed an equaliser from Easty to snatch a draw Heard from Dave Jones the other week. He is playing 3rd division stuff with Mosman F.C. in Sydney, the club has 1400 members, and he's taken to coaching the under 13's over there. http://mosmanfootball.com/home.asp 17/09/07No match this week, but defeat for the Vets on Saturday 10/09/07A good home league win against The Harp last week 1-0, goal from Ekani right at the end of fulltime, But a defeat away at King Kabs in the cup on Sunday 2-3, goals from Machin and Price 02/09/07The Vets began their season with an impressive 4:2 victory, at home to Tixalls F.C., After being under heavy pressure for the first ten minutes, the Vets gradually managed to assert some authority, and opened the scoring after 25 minutes when Citrine, after winning the ball in his own area, strode forward, and was eventually found unmarked to poke the ball home from the six yard box. Tixalls were put on the back foot but managed to scrape a goal back just before half time, despite what looked like a push in the area In the second half playing against a steady breeze, the Libs regained the lead when Easty rolled back the years, and took on the Tixalls defence before stroking the ball home. Tixalls responded when a forward pounced on a loose ball and drilled it home to make it 2:2 with 20 minutes remaining. A superb counter attack gave the Libs the lead, and shortly after with Tixalls keeper stranded, Jayson lobbed into the empty net to secure victory Next up is Wirral Masters at Valley Road , a week Saturday 27/08/07Great win this week 7-1 away at The Bridge, a hatrick from Machin and goals from Corless, Boden, Leslie, Greenham. 20/08/07First game of the the new season and a disappointing defeat away to Irby 2-5, both our goals coming from Machin.
