We

• have lived in St. Albans since 1971
• were born in 1937 in Liverpool (Graham) and 1940 in Stockholm (Kerstin)
• have two sons and six grandchildren

Apart from our Alexander work, our interests are:

Graham

• Rotary (particularly international projects)
• Golf
• Skiing (I was a representative for the Ski Slub of Great Britain for 18 years so acted as a ski guide for six weeks most winters)
• Languages (I speak Swedish, French, German and reasonable Hungarian)

Kerstin

• Grandchildren
• Gardening ( a major passion!)
• Yoga (both as teacher and practitioner)
• Health (both diet and alternative treatments)
• Skiing

How we have benefitted from the Technique

Graham

• I find I can now stand longer without discomfort and occasionally play 36 holes of golf without being worn out the next day.
• My skiing is more confident and fluent.
• After major heart surgery in October, 1995-to replace a calcified aortic valve, I made a very rapid and successful recovery and am now in full health with no medication.
• I see continued use of the Technique as a route to good health and increasing fluidity of movement as I get older.

Kerstin

• A longstanding back problem has been greatly alleviated
• Skiing is much more enjoyable and easier than before. No more panic on steep slopes! Muscle soreness is a thing of the past.
• My level of fitness is pretty good without doing fitness exercises.
• My yoga practise and teaching has benefitted from a better understanding of how to use myself in the postures.
• I'm looking forward to growing older without allowing unnecessary tension to compromise my joints and spine.
• I find the Technique a wonderful way of coping with most things!

Our own development

We regularly participate in teacher workshops organised both by our local network of teachers , by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) and by Alexander Tecbnique International (ATI).
