Impressions picked up from the White Bear – Devizes 29/11/08
In room 4:
Mary, early 40’s, dark hair, housemaid. Stabbed in the side of the neck by a tall dark haired man, his hair was slicked back and greasy with a thin moustause. Stocky build, about 6`2”. Was given the year 1887 and felt the impression that she witnessed the man commit a horrendous crime and she was stabbed during or after a struggle.
I also got the impression that the roof space next to room 4 was used to store the body.
Top floor hallway
I saw a woman in her mid 30’s, wearing a summer flowery dress, black hair in a bob, looked to be the style of the 1960’s
Boy aged 6-7 and Girl aged 12 who shared room 6, later got the name Annabel for the girl
In the bar area, the only active spirit I encountered, he gave his name as David Robson, dating from the 1700’s, he wore a black cloak and is a very roguish ladies man. Was involved in the smuggling of Brandy and Rum, and had a deal of 1 free barrel for every 5 stored until sold. He was also quite proud of his secret connection (I suspected romantic) with a very high status blonde woman, possibly even as high as a countess!
More residual energy in the bar area of a very depressed young man wearing a blue and white apron, late 80’s/early 90’s. Suicide by slitting both wrists, but not in the bar..I feel he was sat here contemplating before going home to commit the act.
Cellar
Girl being brutally raped after being pinned up against the wall, but a man that looked very similar to the one seen in room 4 (logic concludes that this is the act that Mary witnessed, which brought about her murder). I also got the name Lucy
Barrel run and area below was very chaotic, lots of shouting and panicking. At the top of the barrel run, picked up on the impression of an old lady who was extremely angry
Dining room
The same lady as seen in the top floor hallway walked through the far wall (which apparently used to be a doorway).
Top floor landing again
Saw the spirit of a robed monk like figure called Michael. I tried to communicate with the table, but nothing to note other than 2 dramatic temperature drops.
Overall thoughts and impressions of the night:
A very interesting and beautiful building, with lots of residual energies, which would be expected of a building of such age. Only one active spirit was noted throughout the night, which gave information, which appears to be fairly accurate…we later found out that the name and date was one of the former landlords of the pub. We was also told that there was a tunnel link between the pub and a nearby monastery. The murder was also said to be true, but no facts on this have yet to be discovered by us. Overall an interesting night, but activity levels were fairly quiet
