Bed & Breakfast Accommodation
THE HOUSE
Tony and Jane, having returned (after 5 years) from a ‘leisurely’ early retirement in Spain, bought this lovely spacious house in June 2002 with the sole intention of converting it into a quality Bed and Breakfast establishment. Currently it has two double rooms and one single room, all are en-suite. The house boasts a beautiful entrance hall with original oak panelling and an imposing stairway to the bedrooms above.

The house was built for the Sheriff of Macclesfield in 1914. Sadly, since those days it has lost some land both at the front and the rear, the lane that ran along the front is now the A523 Leek- Buxton Road. However, this does not detract from it’s appeal and it still maintains an air of mystery and beauty. Although standing on the corner of Buxton Road and Abbotts Road, the house is somewhat difficult to spot whilst just driving by as it stands behind a solid metal gate and a tall fence behind which are abundant rhododendrons. This gives privacy and surprising quietness which may well surprise you. For details on how to find 'The Corner House' by road then please follow the ‘maps’ link at the foot of this page.

The Dining Room
All meals are taken in the dining room which is large, bright and sunny. It is furnished with antique oak furniture. The room is centrally heated although a coal fire is lit in the lovely 1914 mahogany fireplace during cooler mornings and evenings .
There are separate tables allowing guests privacy. Tables are laid according to the meal taken. Breakfast is informal and relaxed with bright table linen and complimentary cutlery whereas the evening meal is served on polished tables with appropriate crockery and cutlery.

The Guest Sitting Room
A gracious, large and comfortable centrally heated room (accessed from the main hall) is furnished with antiques. There are plenty of comfortable chairs around a beautiful and unusual copper fireplace set in an oak panelled inglenook with cosy seating within.
Guests are welcome to read a selection of complimentary morning papers before breakfast either in this room or at their breakfast table.
After dinner you may wish to take your coffee in the comfort of this room and we provide board and card games along with assorted magazines. A coal fire is always lit on chilly evenings.
