GbH Profile Home

Hi, welcome to my site. If you've got this far, I'm assuming that you're hoping to find out a little more about me and some of the things that I do...
So, firstly, yes my name's Guy Heathcote and I'm resident in Southampton, a city in the southern part of Hampshire, one of the largest counties in the UK. I'm about 6 feet tall, have size 9 shoes and carry a waistline that isn't quite as narrow as it used to be. I don't own a dog, cat or rabbit and my pond is merely full of leaves. However, enough of this, on to the less boring stuff...

Juggling

Yes, if you didn't already know, I juggle things! I've been involved in juggling and associated circus arts since 1986, having learned a whole range of varied skills and performed them in an equally wide range of places. Clubs, balls, diabolos, devil sticks, lasso, yo-yo, cups, kendama - yes, I've done them all, with a greater or lesser degree of success. Add to that a bit of unicycling, stilt walking, rola-bola and perhaps a little comedy (sometimes even intentional) too, then you'll have a least some idea of what I'm about. For a better idea, have a look around this site further, particularly the videos page.
If you'd like me to perform at your event or function, then please get in touch and let me know what you've got in mind. I've previously appeared in seaside cabarets, summer balls, Xmas events, store openings, music festivals, weddings, parties and a multitude of other things too. I can appear as a walk-about performer, or as a stand-alone act. Also, I sometime give workshops, if that's what's required. I own a range of costumes and accessories, so will try to fit in with a given theme where required. For more information, please send me an e-mail (address on main page) or contact me through Facebook.

Music

I've been involved with music since my school days and enjoy my varied noise-making exploits as much today as I always have. I currently play baritone horn with two local brass bands - New Forest Brass and Lockerley Silver Band - and sometimes get to guest with other ensembles too. In addition, I really enjoy playing my melodeons - a relatively recent pursuit - and have a collection of other instruments that get get played to a greater or lesser degree too. It's not unusual to find me playing music of some description as part of my juggling shows, just to keep things interesting.

Moustache Growing!

As I'm sure you're realised by now, I'm the proud owner of a fairly distinctive handlebar moustache, something that I've been rather attached to since around 2002. Although it started as a somewhat tentative experiment, it's since grown into a full 'Imperial' shape that managed to win me third place at the 2007 World Beard And Moustache Championships. I'm now a member of the famous Handlebar Club and have since found myself in demand for modelling or filming pursuits.

Masks And Costumes

As a consequence of my performing exploits, I've found myself becoming a collector (actually, to be more accurate, hoarder) of various masks, costumes and related accessories. Whilst some of which are purchased from new, others I make or customise myself, with somewhat mixed results. You'll be sure to find evidence of this in some of the photos and videos that are hosted elsewhere on this site.

Map Making

In addition to all this fun stuff, I've been an employee of the Ordnance Survey, Britain's national mapping agency, since 1996. Starting out with some less-than-successful training as a cartographer, I've since held various positions in both the Procurement and systems developemnts sides (no, there's no connection between the two). Since 2002, however, I've worked in the Research department, focusing for much of that time on 3D city modelling and, as a nice sideline, semantic wiki technology.
