Chainmail Home

Whilst surfing the internet, I once found an internet page that described how to make juggling 'balls' out of chainmail. Intrigued, I did a little more research, then decided to try and make some of my own. Below are a few photos of the original juggling 'balls' as well as a few projects I tried subsequently. All are made from coils of "1.6mm Galvanised Tying Wire" - that's the stuff sold in garden centres for keeping tree branches in the right place.

Juggling Face Neck chain

'Doughnut' style juggling balls things.

Simple neck chain, complete with metal convention pass.

Hauberk Coif

My biggest project - a long-sleeved hauberk. Never again!

Coif. Interesting to make, due to it's 'concentric circles' design.

Before you ask, yes, the hauberk did take a long time to make and, yes, it's heavy. I once wore it, along with the coif and other medieval clobber, in a carnival parade whilst riding by tall unicycle. In retrospect, this wasn't one of my better ideas...

Jewlery

A spiral neck chain and various braclets. If nothing else, these demonstrate some of the chain styles possible.
