| Saxon gold inlay polyhedral pin. A cast copper-alloy pin of the mid to late Anglo-Saxon period. It has a polyhedral head, formed from a cube with the corners removed. The resulting lozenge-shaped and triangular facets are each decorated with grooves to their borders, the lozenge-shaped facets with inlaid gold panels to their centre. There are signs of possible silvering to some of the surface, the incomplete stem is collared at the base of the head. |
