Way Out West

We stayed in Toronto for the last 2 days of our lease, got some rest and a whole lot of packing done. The room looked like it'd been lived in for a year!

Our first stop was 21 hours down the road. Thunderbay. There was nothing much there, but it lived up to its name giving us this incredible Thunderstorm at sunset.

Thunderstorm at Thunder Bay

After Thunder Bay, we decided not to stop in any tiny places, because there's nothing to do. Winnipeg was the next big place, we met an amazing group of people at the hostel there and stayed up most of the night chatting. We went a nice walk by the river, stood on the windiest corner in the world and had a look round the shops. Calgary wasn't too great because of the weather, but we saw the huge indoor garden that's 4 storeys up, and went to the science centre that's aimed at under 14s.

Next stop was Banff and the Rockies, but that all deserves a seperate page. We skipped over Vancouver the first time and went straight down to Seattle.

Seattle Space Needle

Seattle was one of the nicest cities we saw, it's famous skyline should probably be more famous and the coffee is fantastic. We did a tour of the Underground city, the Pike Place Market and did a bit of shopping, before heading back to Vancouver to change our minds again.

Stars and Stripes in Seattle

We stayed on the bus that took us to Nanaimo, Vancouver island, where we saw Nanaimo's first X-games. There were bikers and lugers doing some incredible stunts, quite a few people got hurt as well. I took some photos, but the ones here are much better.

Finally, we arrived back in Vancouver, where we would fly home after 3 days.

Science Centre from Vancouver Skytrain

Our first night in Vancouver was spent out at Jericho Beach. It was a beautiful place, beaches sandwiched between 2 mountain ranges, looking right out the Pacific Ocean and watching the sunset.

The rest of Vancouver was a bit disappointing. The weather was pretty bad, so we didn't get to see alot of the natural outdoor attractions. So we spent most of our time there shopping, trying to spend some of the Canadian dollars we'd made, I bought a digital camera which took the incredible photos below.

On our last night we had an awesome meal at a Milestones restaurant at the edge of Vancouver. It had a fantastic view of the sun setting over the ocean, and some damn good cocktails.
