* Check the shape of the corner as you drive by, and look into the road to make sure its clear. (For sharp corners like this one park slightly wider from the pavement) Use the mirror as you pass the junction -- you may now need a stopping signal. Give consideration to drivers exiting the junction behind you when you stop.

* Select reverse and use the parking brake if necessary (you may remove the seatbelt if it makes the exercise easier). Take good all round observations at this point and consider following and approaching drivers and any pedestrians looking to cross the road.

* If a driver approaches behind you from the side road, pull forward and let him clear the junction so you dont obstuct him.
