* When you come to rest after the controlled stop, secure the car with the handbrake and select neutral.

* Move off when instructed to do so by your examiner.

* In addition to checking the mirrors, look over the left shoulder and the right before moving off.

* One in every four driving tests has an emergency stop exercise in it, so you may not be asked to do one.
