Eastwood Town FC was founded in 1953 as direct successors to Eastwood Collieries FC, who had disbanded the previous season. The new side started its life in the Notts Alliance League, and among its founder members was George Belshaw, the current chairman, who had played for the colleries side. In season 1996/97, George's 50 years of service was marked by presentations from Graham Kelly, Chief Executive of the Football Association and Terry Annable, Secretary of the Nottinghamshire F.A.
In their eight seasons in the Notts Alliance League, Eastwood were joint Champions once, runners up six times, and finished third on the other occasion.
In season 1961/62, Eastwood progressed to the Central Alliance League and won the Championship title in 1963/64. In the previous season they had moved to their current ground at Coronation Park. Eastwood's next port of call was the East Midlands Regional League in 1967/68 where they were runners up in their second season.
In the sixties, Eastwood established a doughty reputation as Amateur Cup fighters, with wins against some of the really great amateur clubs like Bishop Aukland. The Ground record attendance of 2,723 was set in February 1965, in a 2-3 defeat by Enfield in the Amateur Cup third round.
In 1971/72 the club renounced its amateur status to join the famous Midland Counties League, and in ten seasons won the Championship, were runners up twice and won two League Cups. In addition, after 22 years of trying, Eastwood won the Notts Senior Cup in 1975/76, and despite several lean years recently, have won that magnificent trophy nine times in all.
In 1987/88 the club accepted an invitation to become founder members of the Northern Premier League's new First Division, and there they remain today. Their Coronation Park ground, with it's very successful social club, now has a brand new 280 seater stand and dressing rooms complex constructed with the assistance of a £140,000 grant from The Football Trust.
Current Manager Bryan Chambers has been very successful in the transfer market and the sale of Richard Liburd, Martin Bullock, Neil Illman, Lee Marshall, Glenn Kirkwood, Andrew Todd and Nicky Kennerdale helped finance the club's £120k contribution to the new stand and dressing rooms.
Until recently Eastwood Town's involvement with youth has been limited to making their facilities available freely to schools and youth representative sides. In Season 2000/2001, however, Town adopted "Moorgreen Colts" Under 18 Side and "Eastwood Town Colts" celebrated their first season by winning the Derby City League Challenge Cup.
