I was out most of the day so only a small amount of time for painting.  I am still working on LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN.  This year I am hoping to be more proactive in the various non painting and promotional art projects I have been thinking about for years.

Still not a full day painting but much more time than recently.  I continued painting LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN.

I hope to begin work on several novels/scripts based on some of my seminal paintings.  I also plan a series of imagination testing etudes.

I finished (except for the margin and detailing) LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN.  I may well finish the other two in the series before I return to other works.

I may need to erase much of the imagery in the large square sequence of A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.

Home all day but still not working to anything near full capacity.  I painted the margin of LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN and also did a bit of retouching.  I am loath to redefine the black lines - I will think about it.

I then started painting LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.

Saturday and, rather reluctantly, I spent much of the day doing DIY!.  I continued painting LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.

Sunday and spent a large part of the day gardening.  I did more work on LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.

I am still working on LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.  However I was out most of the afternoon.  Much of my dream time is occupied with the stories which will (all being well) condense into novels or scripts.

I worked off and on all day until late but still haven’t quite finished LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.  Hopefully I will finish this stage tomorrow.  I will soon have to face being Peter Panic again!

I finished the primary painting stage of  LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.  Changes and refining will probably follow.

I then started painting  LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).

In between this I made some modest colour amendments to LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN.  It remains to be seen if I need to make any others.

I also started laying out in charcoal two new canvases, both with related subject matter.  One is entitled PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, SHOES AND MOBILE PHONE and the other (provisionally) INITIAL PORTRAIT OF ALI.

I continued working on LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).  Very slow progress - I'm not sure why!

I am doing  preliminary work on my new Facebook, My Space, MSN etc. Pages.  I set up sites in the past but got annoyed with them.  This time I will probably persevere.I 

I worked again on LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).  I had to go out otherwise I would have finished this stage.  I only pottered in the evening.

It was another DIY Saturday!  However I did finish the painting stage of LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).

I plan to dedicate much of my time this week to contacting art galleries - albeit mainly online (and free!) ones.  I don't expect to get as much actual painting/drawing done as I would normally.  I didn't do any art work today.

As predicted all my available time was spent online - approaching galleries and uploading images is an exceedingly protracted process!

I meant to paint today but still spent almost the entire day online - I'm not sure if this is necessarily that productive (especially as I am out most of tomorrow).

A day spent on the computer (again) and out with my wife.  Only an ultra modest amount of pottering was done in my studio.

I finally managed to complete some paintings this year.  I.e.: YOUNG GIRL ASLEEP IN A WINE GLASS, YOUNG GIRL ON A BURNING BUSH (DICTAMNUS ALBUS) and YOUNG GIRL ASTRIDE A WINDMILL.  I filled in the images and did the minimal amount of repainting of lines.

I then started to tidy up the three recent landscapes, principally LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME.  I would hope to get this process finished on all of the works this week.

I finished tidying the lines of LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME and then did the same to LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN and LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).I 

I spent the morning going through some stored paintings - some had suffered a bit from the damp which will need addressing.

I spent the available in my studio making further amendments to LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME and LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN and LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).

I finished LANDSCAPE FOUND IN A WINE GLASS RAISED TO THE MORNING SUN by adding spontaneously evolving symbols to the foreground strands.

I had a meeting in the afternoon to plan a forthcoming exhibition.  Hopefully this will be successful.

In an out.  I almost completed LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).  I have added spontaneous symbols and gestural marks which hint at the interactions and emotions between the observer and the natural world.

In and out again - mostly out.  However I did finish LANDSCAPE FOUND AMONG THE WARSHIPS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (RING EILEEN, MENTION WINE).

Still "writing" lots of stories in my head.

In most of the time (phew!).  I completed LANDSCAPE FOUND ON THE SOUL OF MY SHOE AFTER I HAD RETURNED HOME - adding diagrammatic symbols and the typical gestural marks for this series.

I then seriously amended SAYING GOOD BYE TO ALI,  tidying up the linear elements at the same time.  I also tidied up the lines of the other two works in the series: THE KISS and THE ARTIST ALONE PAINTING HIS PORTRAIT.

My Sunday work in the garden carried on into this morning.  However, once ensconced in my studio I went on to finish SAYING GOODBYE TO ALI and also worked on the other two pictures in the series.

I continued to work on THE KISS and THE ARTIST ALONE PAINTING HIS PORTRAIT but didn't manage to finish either.  The latter part of the day was flittered away on various other projects.

Out part of the day so although I worked on THE KISS and THE ARTIST ALONE PAINTING HIS PORTRAIT I finished neither work. 

I managed to finish both THE KISS and THE ARTIST ALONE PAINTING HIS PORTRAIT - adding symbols, shapes and spontaneous marks; as well as a degree of repainting.  It took all day though.

I started work again on PANDORIC PORTRAIT OF THE PIXIE GIRL (painting in defined areas) and PORTRAIT OF A GIRL: VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT (adding images based on anatomical features).  I worked off and on all day and then went to the pub with a friend.

A mainly D.I.Y. day but I spent several hours working on PORTRAIT OF A GIRL: VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT - adding symbols and other tinkering. 

A fairly typical Sunday with a lot of idle odd jobbing but I did finish adding symbols to PORTRAIT OF A GIRL: VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT. 

The day was not as productive as it could have been (normal whinges!), however I finished PORTRAIT OF A GIRL: VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT.  I filled in all the symbols and shapes and added simple marks to the central strip - more modest experimentation I am afraid.

I bought a mac so spent too much time tinkering with this.  However I did a fair bit of work on NEBULOUS PORTRAIT OF A GIRL - painting all the images on the main information strip.

A day of studio cleaning (a lot more to do!!!!), mac playing and a little painting.  I redefined the lines on NEBULOUS PORTRAIT OF A GIRL and then started to add simple symbols derived from the shapes in the central strip.  Out all day tomorrow.

An unseasonably nice day so my wife and I went out in the afternoon.  Not a good idea if you are trying to finish dozens of paintings!.  I did, however, finish NEBULOUS PORTRAIT OF A GIRL - adding simple symbols derived from other material.

No painting - a lot of work on the computers.

Painting all day.  I painted all of the first stage of PANDORIC PORTRAIT OF THE PIXIE GIRL.

Out for the day with my wife tomorrow.

I came in from our day out, seriously messed up the PC and then had to spent the rest of the evening (until the early hours) sorting it out!  Consequently no work done!!

I partially repainted the lines of PANDORIC PORTRAIT OF THE PIXIE GIRL and modified some of the work done on Monday.

I then decided to return to the "finished" NEBULOUS PORTRAIT OF A GIRL - painting in the icons in the central strip.

At the end of the afternoon I started work again on A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.

I spent a good part of the day working on A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC - adding imagery and modifying some of the existing work.  I then suddenly went off at a tangent late afternoon and started writing multifarious nonsense on the computer.

I spent all my available time adding imagery to A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.  There are a number of superposed sequential image streams that partially interact.

During the morning I finished adding the pencil images on A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.  Many of these will be painted over in due course.  I spent the afternoon in the garden.

A late start and early finish (for domestic activities), in between I worked on A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC - going over some of the pencil lines with acrylic jar colour.  I will treat the various image sequences differently.

I completed painting over the pencil lines on A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.  I used different colours for the various types of image sequence.

Out in the early part of the morning - on non important activities (if the truth be known).  The rest of the day was given over to painting in the images within the sequences of squares in A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.

I spent most of the day out with members of my family.  When not eating, drinking and socialising I carried on painting in the small figurative images in the superposed image streams of A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.

I completed  A DAY IN THE LIVES OF PETER PANIC.  I finished filling in the small pictures, repainted one of the main sequences and added pencil detailing.

I spent the morning working on PANDORIC PORTRAIT OF THE PIXIE GIRL - adding simple images derived from the spontaneous thematic shapes added at the initial drawing stage.  All the images explore aspects of the person's character.  Afternoon in the garden.

I did a tiny amount of work on PANDORIC PORTRAIT OF THE PIXIE GIRL then pronounced it finished.

I then started to add figurative fantasy images to THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH.  Using pencil (to be repainted in due course) and all based on the work's theme.

Out with my wife, June, most of the day.  On my return home I added further pencil images to THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH. 

I carried on adding the initial pencil images to THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH.  This stage will take another day - although I am busy preparing work for an exhibition tomorrow.

I had to get some work ready for collection so only managed a little work on THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH.

I touched up BACK OF A PORTRAIT, A HEAD DREAMS OF A BODY, and TRANSFORMATIONS - HOMAGE TO THE WOLFMAN. 

I then acrylic varnished four of the latest "Panic Paintings" - two badly (the pencil smudged) so I will have to repaint them.  I also oil varnished THE BIOPSY.

I had to spend more time preparing work for collection again (this time for next week).

I touched up INTERFACE, VARIATIONS LOOKING FOR A THEME and PURPLE EMPEROR ON LEAF.

I then added more pencil fantasy images to THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH - almost finishing this stage.

I repainted some parts of THE LIFE AND TIMES OF QUARTER MAN and THRANSFIGURED DAY - mainly the background areas.

I then finished adding all the pencil images to THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH.

Sunday, so I was not in my studio for long periods of time.  I painted the perimeter areas on the three "Geriatric" pictures: GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS FIRST PICTURE, GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS SECOND PICTURE and GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS THIRD PICTURE.

In my studio from late morning.  I worked on THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH - painting over the pencil lines with acrylic jar colour (I got almost half way).

I finished painting over the pencil lines on THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH.  I then wasted time on the computer for the rest of the evening.

I had to spend the day varnishing and framing pictures so had no time to paint.  Note to myself: The acrylic medium/varnish I use is too thick.

Out in the morning; once in I spent most of the day varnishing paintings.  At the end of the day I did start painting in the first set of images in THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH - I am not sure how much finishing to do with this work.

Out with my wife today.  I finished painting in the first section of images in THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH when I got in.

I spent the morning sorting through older paintings.  In the afternoon I started to repaint the lines of a relatively old work (early Nineties): LIGHT OF THE WORLD - BATTERY VERSION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED).  This is a reworking of an even earlier piece.

I also finished THE LOST CODEX OF THE BUTTERFLY PEOPLE - 72 VARIATIONS ON SIMULTANEOUS BIRTH AND DEATH; adding pencil markings to each individual section.

I varnished more paintings first thing.  I then went to the Private View at The Bronze Gallery - a really nice gallery - which are displaying ten of my paintings (a very mixed selection) until early next month.

I continued to repaint the lines of LIGHT OF THE WORLD - BATTERY VERSION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED) - hopefully I will finish it tomorrow.

I painted the perimeter section of three older works (I had previously used mounts - although they had not been exhibited for some time): METAMORPHOSIS OF NARCISSUS: NARCISSUS ASTURIENSIS (SYN. N. MINIMUS), EVOLUTION OF THE EATING LINE and CREATION OF ADAM.

I then repainted the perimeter on two partially started works: FOUR CHAPTERS FROM A BOOK I HAVE NEVER WRITTEN (THE MAIN CHARACTER IS A COMPUTER SCREEN) and A SYMPHONIC PRESCRIPTION OF SIX TABLETS - BASED ON AN INSTALLATION COMPRISING FIFTEEN MANNEQUINS WATCHING FIVE COLOURED BALLOONS SLOWLY DEFLATING (FILMED BY A MAN IN A LOWLAND GORILLA SUIT). 

Finally I painted the pencil lines of  PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - SMALL VERSION.  I can't remember when I started this work or the large version.  I have to go over the charcoal lines of this latter work at some point.

I painted over the pencil lines of PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION.

I then went back to repainting the lines LIGHT OF THE WORLD - BATTERY VERSION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED) - unfortunately I had to go out before I managed to finish it.

I had a full day in my studio so finally finished the amendments to LIGHT OF THE WORLD - BATTERY VERSION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED).

At the very end of the day I prepared GOD STUDY TWO: QUESTION AND ANSWERS for partially repainting.

I did some work on GOD STUDY TWO: QUESTION AND ANSWERS - painting over the background sections (initially in grey mixed with sand texture medium and then in black).  I had to go out before I finished it.

Later, I did more "figure" drawings in one of my sketch books.

I finished the repainting of GOD STUDY TWO: QUESTION AND ANSWERS.  This work was originally completed in 1984 and the too thick non removable varnish has yellowed in places.

I only had a limited time to paint during the afternoon.  I started work on both versions of PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES.

Saturday and I was all over the place.  When actually in my studio I completed the first painting stage of PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - SMALL VERSION and almost completed this stage of LARGE VERSION.

Out all day doing a wildlife conservation task (one of my interests).  When I came in I finished the first stage of PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION.

I added detailing to both versions of PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES.  Unfortunately I had to go out in the middle of the afternoon so didn't make as much progress as I would have liked.

I spent part of the day pottering in the garden as the forecast for the weekend isn't very good.  However, I did finish PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, SHOES AND MOBILE PHONE - SMALL VERSION.  I accidentally changed the title! - however it is better like this.

I then started painting (using acrylics) the first stage of THE CREATION OF COMPLEX PATHS FOLLOWING RECOGNISED SCIENTIFIC PRINCIPLES  (YOU HAVE TO BE AN ATHEIST TO FIND GOD).

I continued working on THE CREATION OF COMPLEX PATHS FOLLOWING RECOGNISED SCIENTIFIC PRINCIPLES  (YOU HAVE TO BE AN ATHEIST TO FIND GOD).  I didn't seem to get much done before having to go out. 

My acrylic technique tends to be cruder, more spontaneous and allow a propensity for repainting/overpainting.

I worked a bit on PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, SHOES AND MOBILE PHONE - LARGE VERSION; partially repainting what I had done earlier.

I also did more painting of THE CREATION OF COMPLEX PATHS FOLLOWING RECOGNISED SCIENTIFIC PRINCIPLES  (YOU HAVE TO BE AN ATHEIST TO FIND GOD) - experimenting with base colours and the covering of background areas.

Good Friday:  I worked in my studio during the morning while it rained, snowed and blew a gale outside.  I worked on  THE CREATION OF COMPLEX PATHS FOLLOWING RECOGNISED SCIENTIFIC PRINCIPLES  (YOU HAVE TO BE AN ATHEIST TO FIND GOD) - painting, repainting and partially over painting various parts of the first stage.

I also made some amendments to PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, SHOES AND MOBILE PHONE - LARGE VERSION.  I notice I will need to amend the amendments tomorrow.

As planned I partially repainted parts of PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, SHOES AND MOBILE PHONE - LARGE VERSION.

I then started to paint (in oils) GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS FIRST PICTURE.  However, it wasn't a particularly productive day.

During the morning I carried on painting GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS FIRST PICTURE but went out for lunch in the afternoon - Easter Sunday.

I completed the main stage of GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS FIRST PICTURE (but went out again in the afternoon).

I did the main painting stage of GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS SECOND PICTURE, finishing it late afternoon.

I then made a start on GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS THIRD PICTURE, but didn't get very far.

Earlier in the day I made another amendment to PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, SHOES AND MOBILE PHONE - LARGE VERSION.  My paintings are really designed to be viewed close up , however I am trying to make the composition reasonably acceptable when viewed at a distance - with the exception of Peter Panic pieces.

I completed the main stage of GERRY HATTRICK PAINTS HIS THIRD PICTURE.  Unfortunately I then had to do masses of paperwork and finally go out.

I finished all three of the "Hattrick" paintings - refining the lines, adding text and other detailing.

I also partially repainted PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION.  I have now satisfactorily finished this stage, I can start adding images and other details.

Out with my wife most of the day.  Before and after I did a little work on PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION.

I worked  a large part of the day on PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION.  Adding images based on inversions of the main structures but superimposing new meanings and associations.

Sunday spent doing moderately inconsequential things on the computers.  However I did a little more work on PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION.  Adding spontaneous symbols.

I completed PORTRAIT OF ALI MINUS HER TOP, MOBILE PHONE AND SHOES - LARGE VERSION - painting in the images, repainting parts of the picture and adding symbols and text.  This took most of the day so I spent the evening on the computers.
