Match Preview: City v Aston
Villa 2.2.00
League Cup Semi Final Second Leg.
This is IT !!!!!!!
Peter Gilbert 2.2.00
Have you come down yet? Are you still burning? Does it still
hurt? Will you ever forget?
Chelsea.....I spit the word onto the floor.....it's gone though
- leave the spit in the gutter, we must dust ourselves down,
freshen up and start all over again otherwise we might not be
at our most pungent for the forthcoming game against Villa, which
is just one step away from Wembley, and how magnificent it would
be to go there and maybe even win something as the old lady of
football lines up for a face lift that will inevitably see her
reappear unrecognisably modern.
It's very hard to try and assess our chances as it all depends
upon which team we are going to be fielding.
Just who is likely to be on the pitch? I suppose it could be:
Elliott, Taggart, Sinclair and Gilchrist at the back or it might
not be. It might be Savage in midfield but beyond that, I can't
see. There have to be question marks over all the other players.
Villa will have no Carbone or Dublin and possibly Merson will
be out too but beyond that we know their team.
Leicester City are on he brink of some great prize again and
self kicking will inevitably occur if we don't grasp it and their
may even be regrets, remonstrations and remorse. The question
mark will appear over the team and the set up. The question of
where is the quality striker we need will be asked? Certainly
the club has the money but the choppy waters we have navigated
recently must have taken their toll on the nerve endings.
We have been linked with so many pretenders to the thrown and
last Friday even Prince Charles was seen leaving the ground.
Surprisingly this Royal visit is one of the very few that didn't
turn out to be rumour.
So success in the League Cup is absolutely essential otherwise
something within us will perish and die and could do irreparable
damage to the rest of our structure.
So much hangs on this game against Villa that if you don't watch
it from the edge of your seat you then you have nerves of matted
cotton wool.
The importance of this game is so vast that it is the duty of
every drop of Leicestershire blood throughout the world to boil
in the veins and jangle the soul and twitch the brain and hit
the voice box and produce the loudest roar imaginable.
The passion must be that strong since the prize is so great..........but
the punishment for failure is incalculable and could take many
years to recover from.
So come on wherever you are........rise up........sing your hearts
out in the name of Leicester City and hope and wish and pray
for success.
If you are still burning.................. if it does still hurt.....................
if you haven't come down..................... then now is your
time........so let's hear you in the air on Wednesday night.
