Second Round Second Leg. Worthington Cup
City v Crystal Palace. Filbert Street 7.45pm. Wed. 22nd September 1999.
Peter Gilbert. 19.9.99.
The Crystal won't sparkle any
more.
After a tricky little Round 2, 1st Leg away at Palace, we bring
them back to our place with the scores level. It was as you might
remember 3-3 on the night at their place:
But:
Emile Heskey went off injured
Tony Cottee was rested
Matt Elliott went off injured.
'Keeper 1(Arphexad) was injured on the night
'Keeper 2(Flowers) was injured on the night.
Theo Zagorakis went in goal and let 2 in (not criticising Theo)
The Hangman was stirring it backstage.
We'd played badly at Sunderland
Martin was upset
There was about as much atmosphere at Selhurst Park as there is
on the moon
Small crowd only 5,000
Palace wear horrible kit
It was a Tuesday night and by rights we should have been playing
in Europe that week.
Er - and I had a bit of a toothache.
All these considered we at least came away on equal terms.
When most features of the above are remedied and with a good team
out after a good performance against Liverpool, and after putting
The Hangman in his place last Saturday we should be in a more
positive frame of mind for the 2nd leg and so I fully expect that
we'll do the business
I suggest we take it all more seriously this time and kill them
off before they get any ideas above their station.
Forecast:Convincing HOME WIN
