The Crunch is Coming Peter Gilbert 2.11.00 During the course of the next few weeks I sense that we are going to find out a lot about Leicester City Football Club. Will Peter Taylor be able to sort out our striker crisis? Will our midfield players show some real commitment and consistency? Will the temporary England job, distract our manager? Are we really going to have a new ground? Is the organizational set up of LCFC as genuine as the supporters? Are we a ‘Flash in the Pan.? Will we just fizzle out and revert to our former ‘yo-yo’ lifestyle? Does LCFC really want success at a high level? Is Peter Taylor really a ‘bright young thing?’ Is Robbie Savage our heart and soul? The list of questions could go on and on but most of these questions and more will be answered I believe during the next few weeks. It will be a fascinating time, we will be learning so much. One thing is for sure, we are far from the position of being able to field anything other than our strongest team since without certain vital components we simply cease to exist; for evidence of this one only has to look back at the home match against Crystal Palace. On paper it was a breeze; in reality we were swept aside by a team who wanted to win more than ours did. It is true of course that we cannot continue in the style we are in at present which quite simply is ‘life at the edge.’ We have little or no composure, we rely entirely on ‘bust a gut’ football and occasionally we are simply not going to perform. The opposition in the next game is almost irrelevant, yes it is Manchester City away but the beginning of the answers to questions will start on that day. The honeymoon period is over and now the ‘Nitty Gritty’ will start in no uncertain terms. Let the competition begin………the next few weeks are going to be fascinating!!!!!!!!!!! We will learn so much if we observe carefully. Last Match City Player Analysis Flowers: Come back………please. Rowett: Crumbled under the pressure. Gilchrist : Found wanting. Sinclair: Good enough Davidson: Cautious. Guppy: Is his ‘swan song’ imminent? McKinley: Unfit and anonymous. Lennon: Words fail me, he appears to be a fat, lumbering spectator full of after match fine words which don’t stand up. Eadie: A specialized player. Full of promise, produced very little in real terms.. Cresswell: You are ‘The Weakest Link’…….goodbye. Gunnlaugsson: Promising !!!! Subs: Elliott: Sadly missed. Izzett: A true gem it was a worthwhile experiment resting him. Benjamin: Interesting and worth another luck but at £1m in no way can he be considered an answer. If the engine fires on all cylinders, we will cruise it. |
