One Goalkeeper's views on another.

By Jack Williams - Lincolnshire Goalkeeper.

Hi. I'm a Leicester city fan, I'm 16 years of age, and on the pitch my position is goalkeeper. Like most teenagers, we all have our individual heroes and guess who mine is - Tim Flowers.   I am very impressed with the way he has played this season and the enthusiasm he has given to the city fans. I'm also impressed on how he has carried on playing excellent after last seasons injuries. He commands his penalty area well with dominant shouting and screaming towards his defenders. I feel he still has a chance of getting an England cap, specially now Peter Taylor has become England coach for a short while.   He has certainly got all it takes to be a world class goal keeper.  In 1994/95 season with Blackburn Rovers, he seemed absolutely certain to be England's goalkeeper for the next decade or so.  Pat Jennings, quoted 'He's got all it takes to make a world class goalkeeper'.
When Blackburn stopped playing Tim Flowers, he must have thought 'I wish I could go back in time', just after traitor Stan Collymore fluffed a daisy cutter that was rolling rather careering towards the ex Rover keeper that then hit a divot and shot up over Flowers shoulder nestling in the net. He must have been in sheer disgust and mixed with utter disbelief, and have thought his days were over as a Blackburn player. When City came to his rescue a year later, he obviously began to realize he is one of England's best and started to work hard on the training field, with hours of practice with City's goal keeper coach Mc Donagh. He's got agility, he's got good hands, he's got anticipation, he's brave and he reads the game well.
This season wise money will be on Tim Flowers being remembered for all the right reasons.
