Peter Gilbert 5.2.01.

Arsenal couldn't beat us, Villa never can. We've taken the Chelsea scalp twice this season so a little trip up to cranky old Everton should be a piece of cake for the likes of us and then shortly we'll be able to resume our rightful position in the league.....4th. That would be a pleasing finish to the season for us and a quite realistic one too.

After our customary winter blip we now appear to be back on course and playing well. PT has bought in 11 players now and so we have the strongest squad I can ever remember. If anyone can remember a stronger one please tell me about it. I emphasise the words 'strongest squad'. When you look at the players who did not appear on the pitch in the victory over Chelsea I'm sure you'll know what I mean......Flowers, Sinclair, Gilchrist, Delaney, Taggart, Oakes, Jones, Gunnlaugsson, Benjamin, Cresswell and......hey that's not a bad team actually.

The last time we played this lot, we were somewhat at odds with ourselves thanks to the 'Human Form of Computer Virus' ie Stan Collymore.......but we've rid ourselves of the infection as have several others before us and he's now flown to Spain where his speciality act (fire extinguishers) could come into play. Actually I'm dead jealous of Stan;I wish I had a job where if I didn't bother to do it properly they'd send me out to Spain for an easy ride

So upto Everton.......a team at odds with itself.......our speciality at the moment. You have to be strong to play against Leicester City.....we'll search out any weakspot and work on it till it cracks.

I feel pretty confident about this game which if we win will see us with enough points to forget relegation for yet another season. Teams that can come up with a strong run in the latter stages of the season invariably end up achieving whatever it is they're after and we're after a top 6 finish at least. So come on lads let's whistle the Z Cars theme as the teams run out unwrap the toffees and enjoy the taste of success again. This is the perfect game for us at the moment......you have to fancy us. All we need now is for a striker or two to get on fire.

I watched MoD last night...couldn't believe it. They showed hardly any of our game and Gunnlaugsson's goal against Villa was not in the frame.......quite beyond me. Once again though Messrs Lawrenson and Hansen showed the nation their utter ignorance of the laws of football. For two ex defenders their total lack of understanding of the offside law is quite staggering and yet they have the nerve to appear on TV and talk with such authority.......they should be replaced immediately but a couple of schoolboys.

Last Match Player Analysis.

Royce: Fine Simon.....but to be honest you didn't have a lot to do.

Rowett: Played the best game he's ever had for us......outstanding.

Davidson: As above with ears on.

Elliott: Stood the test of 90 mins with class and integrity, never once looking troubled......what a signing he was.

Impey:The best I've ever seen him play......really good.

Guppy: Magical.

Izzett: Head and shoulders above the opposition.

Lewis: Started nervously, settled to his task, eventually he owned midfield and passed the ball with great vision and accuracy.

Savage: Nice one Robbie (know what I mean?)

Mancini: Silky smooth like the string arrangements his Dad Henry used to knock out.

Sturridge:Quick, bright and unlucky not to score. For a little chap he gives away a lot of free kicks.

Subs:

Akinbiyi: The cracks are beginning to show......how can we help you Ade?

Eadie: As quick as an electric hare.......often chased but never caught.
