Wow.............
We've got some really glamorous games coming up and Charlton Athletic is just one of them!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the irony is almost dripping off the walls.
This time round Alan Curbisley's boys have fared better than the first visit to The Premiership when it all ended in tears......it'll end in tears this year too but those of Charlton Athletic.
Actually when you think of it.......Charlton Athletic.......it's a unique name.......a relic from the past with 'Athletic' and as for naming the club after a famous footballing name well that's just a master stroke.
Why other teams haven't emulated their efforts I don't know.........I can see it now
Pele City
Banks Borough
Lineker Old Boys
Moore Villa
Woodgate Kickers
Bowyer Nopants
The list is endless:
Best Town
Larson Caledonian Thistles
This has the makings of one hell of a good party game.........I see a board game, with whole groups of football fans playing........matching up names with endings...moving round the board.......till the final goal is scored and they all go to bed with a cup of cocoa.
Anyway Charlton Athletic..........what I call a 'real' London Club.......along with West Ham and Brentford....rather thin on the ground.
It may not be glamorous but we need more points.........21 in fact if we are to end up with the 66 I forecast we need to qualify for Europe.
I would have been happier to see PT really go for it in the transfer market last week so we could push on for Europe. When you look at who else we've got to play....I can see no reason why we can't gain another seven wins including this one.
But no, we have sold Gilchrist when we can't afford to and we bought Marshall at a lowly price. PT descibes him as a utility player. Is that manager speak for 'utter rubbish but he's big, anyway I had to buy someone?'
Charlton are playing well but we have regained our will to win and pull a bit of a rabbit out of the hat. Taggart And Davidson Set To Return ........but...........
GERRY Taggart and Callum Davidson are set to return... but the bad news is that Leicester City face major injury problems whilst preparing for Sunday's trip to the Valley.
Both Taggart and Davidson trained without any problems today (Thursday).Taggart missed the trip to Old Trafford with a reccurance of a hamstring problem, whilst Davidson has been out with a bad back.
But Muzzy Izzet and Robbie Savage are almost certain to miss out on a trip to the Valley.
Izzet is still struggling with a calf strain, whilst Savage is to visit a specialist about his knee injury.
And to further compound the situation, Matt Elliott and Matthew Jones both returned from international duty with injuries - Elliott picking up a groin problem whilst Jones has injured his foot.
Peter Taylor said: It is frustrating that both players have returned with injuries but that is how it goes sometimes. It is too early to say but obviously it is the source of some concern at the moment."
City fans must ask themselves 'Why is it everytime we play on live TV this season, we do so with a depleted squad?' Furthermore all of our games this season have been against to put it politely 'mediocre' opposition. e.g. Coventry/Ipswich and now Charlton.......what I wonder were Sky Sports hoping to achieve with these games being broadcast.
It's beginning to look as if City's season is doomed to fizzle out and that the OPTA prediction of us ending up in 11th place is looking ominously realistic. So the team could look like this on Sunday?
Royce Rowett Taggart Davidson Impey Guppy Delaney Oakes Lewis Sturridge Akinbiyi
subs Gunnlauggsson Benjamin Marshall? Flowers
Not Impressive to say the least. Good job we sold Gilchrist !!!!!!!!!
