Happy Christmas(Leicester City)

sung to the tune of Happy Christmas(War is Over) by JOHN! Lennon/ Ono

And so this is Christmas, and what have we won?
A silver trophy, in Europe again
And so this is Christmas, we're flying on high
The home and away ones, we give it a try.
A Merry Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one, with plenty to cheer.

And so this is Christmas, for weak and for strong
The rich and the poor ones, the road is so long.
And so Happy Christmas, for our blue and white
The yellow away kit, we put up a fight.
A Merry Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one with plenty to cheer.

Repeat verse 1 singing 'Leicester City' in the background.

A Good Time to Play The Arsenal

After another stirring win over a London Club we find ourselves in third place in a head to head with the team on the same points but with a superior goal difference - none other than Arsenal.

We're still not being taken seriously by the pundits but if we can pull some sort of a result out of the bag at Highbury on Boxing Day then people will have to sit up and take us seriously. Just a little aside as an example of this point - I was listening to Radio 5 the other day wirth Alan Green commentating on a Liverpool match and he actually said, whilst raving about Emile Heskey's performance 'And to think Heskey was no more than an average player before he came to Liverpool.' Well that comment just says it all really, you get no credit for playing for Leicester City even when we're third in the league. It's best to put that fact at the back of your mind otherwise you'd just go mad.

It's been interesting watching the last couple of home matches against Charlton and West Ham, we've started the game rather hesitantly with Peter Taylor looking on studiously. He then after 20 mins. or so alters things to combat the opposition's game plan and the game is transformed, we're suddenly all over them and a victory appears to be inevitable.

However we might not find Arsenal quite so forgiving especially after they come off the back of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. Mind you Liverpool do have a miracle worker for a manager, did you know he can turn very average players into world beaters? Amazing but it's true Alan Green says.

I may be wrong but.....do I detect some unrest, unease and uncertainty in the Arsenal camp? If we beat them and move into second place, all the talk will be about 'What's wrong with Arsenal?' but I'm sure we can live with that.

Last Match Player analysis

Flowers: No chance with the goal, the rest of his afternoon was carried out with great efficiency.

Sinclair: Had a great game.

Rowett: Very neat and tidy at the back.

Elliott: Went off with a gashed shin, until then he was as impeccable as ever.

Taggart: Booked for a ball winning tackle, a great afternoon at the back.

Impey: Played Left back and Right back with great efficiency marking out key players.

Savage: Words fail me, he's brilliant, tireless work rate, a great goal and what a dive into the kop afterwards, that has to go down as one of the greatest goal celebrations ever, it was very funny too.

Oakes: A very good game, worked hard put in many menacing crosses but needs to practice his corners and free kicks.

Jones: Largely disappointing in the creative aspects of the game, but he worked hard. He has a lot to learn.

Akinbiyi: Worked hard, was a constant runner after the many long balls City played over their defence

Izzett: Used as a forward with great effect, scored a goal, looked less than happy when subbed off. I prefer to see him in midfield

subs:

Guppy: It didn't happen.

Benjamin: Deserves a starting place again.

Eadie: A good player to bring on, I still think I'd like to see him have an extended run as left wing back or wide left midfield.

PT didn't bring Arny on - Perhaps he's saving him for this match.
