Let's all have a sing song..........

Things Can Only Get Better.

Peter Gilbert. 26,12,00

OK so we took a bit of a tousling at the hands of The Gooners, it's not the end of the world is it?

These things happen to the best of us from time to time.

Come on cheer up what we need is a bit of a night out, something to wash away that dreadful feeling, something to put the Royal Blue back in our blood.

I have the very thing.

What could be better than a trip to a so called 'big club' , one that we've never lost to in The Premiership. Yep there's only place to go to that will set us right. It's not far. The colour scheme is pretty dreadful. The people talk in a nauseatingly boring nasal drone. They moan a lot and are always less than satisfied with their lot in life. But sometimes you need to look at other people to realise how lucky you are and in a strange way it sort of cheers you up.

So we'll have a football match against Aston Villa and then I'm sure everything will return to normal and we'll come good.

You're perhaps feeling a bit liverish, you've had too much rich food but if you look at their chairman and then ours you'll dance with delight. Listen to the rubbish their manager talks and you'll do back flip. Look at their kit, try not to throw up and then look at ours - wow it's pretty good isn't it. Look at their players if you can, they have a bunch of rejects and 'wantaways'. Feeling better? There you see !!!!!!!!

10 Things to Know about Aston Villa which will undoubtedly cheer you up.

1. They were founded in the winter of 1874-75 by a bunch of bored cricket fans. See below for further details.

Founded in 1874 by cricketers from the Villa Cross
Wesleyan Chapel, Aston, Birmingham. They played on
Aston Park, moving to a field in Wellington
Road, Perry Barr in 1876. Prominent nationally,
The club was a founder member of the Football
League in 1888. The landlord at Perry Barr
made such demands that the club sought its
own ground and eventually moved back to
Aston occupying the Aston Lower Grounds,
which had already been used for some big
games. Not known as Villa Park until some
time later, the ground first saw league football
in 1897.

Wow that's really interesting........isn't it.

2.They moved to Villa Park as long ago as 1897 and they have no new ground to look forward to.
3.They've won the FA Cup 7 times but not since 1957.
4.They have won the FA/League Cup double but not for more than 100 years.

5. They won the European Cup in 1981-82 season, but that cup no longer exists.
6. They've won nothing for years.
7. One of their recent top goal scorers, a certain J.Joachim couldn't get into our side even if he wanted to.
8. Their best striker, Dion Dublin, was born on the next street to Filbert Street and his Dad is desperate for 'his boy' to come home.
. We won at Villa Park last season.

10.Stanley Vincent Collymore left them for us.

So there we go...........simple isn't it.

Let's round off this millennium year on a high note, let's have a jolly good kick about and get all the bad feeling out of our bones and get the juices flowing again.........and then everything will be all right.

In a way I'm glad we lost to The Gooners because now we'll be well up for this one - I can't wait. I can see it now. They'll boo Robbie Savage, abuse Ade Akinbiyi and then we'll shut 'em up by sticking the ball in the back of the net.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year is what I say.

Let's all have a disco.

p.s.

This is amazing......and quite true.........as I write this fireworks are crackling and flashing into the air..........it's a sign, it must be.

p.p.s.

Now would you like to see a picture of my Leicester City Christmas tree and some of the presents I was bought from the club shop. Tell you what if we beat Villa (which I'm sure we will) I'll enclose a picture of a very attractive woman in a Leicester City anorak.......now I can't say fairer than that now can I?
