Fox Hunting

On the way to the game driving through the mist which shrouded the hills of Derbyshire, I saw .......a fox hunt which basically is a bunch of
wealthy people dressed in silly clothes all joining together to anihilate one of our indigenous small mammals. How sad for the fox, and how sad for the foxes this day was to end up.

Immediately before the game was rather like an awards ceremony, almost everyone seemed to be getting one for one reason or another. Sadly Peter Taylor received 'the jinx' award.....manager of the month.....not that he didn't deserve it of course.

Today's match report has been written by guest reporter Tom Gilbert.
1st Half:

3 mins - United holding possession well, City involved in a stand off.
Gilchrist is having an unsteady start. Leicester are unable to get the
passing game together. Savage goes in with a hard challenge on Fortune.
Leicester are starting sluggishly - letting United come on to them too
easily. Leicester are hitting the ball up the field too much, they are
not playing the Peter Taylor passing game.
Akinbiyi controlling well - lays the ball off to Izzet, good ball from
Izzet through to Davidson but overhit - Leicester's best chance so far.
Eadie has broken through, passes to Davidson, good shot from Davidson,
Barthez saves at the near post.
7mins - Leicester livening up - the sun is starting to break through
the thick clouds.
8 mins - Eadie is challenging hard on Silvestre with a great tackle
again - working hard.
10 mins - United not passing the ball around as well due to Leicester
pressurising better. Sheringham in the penalty area - but he is unable
to make anything of it, although he is looking good. No clear chances
from either sides yet. United having a lot of possession. Eadie and Akinbiyi seem to be too far away from each other to work off the flick ons.
15 mins - The fans are getting frustrated with possession that Man Utd
are having.
Lennon passes to Eadie who then passes to Davidson who crosses to =
Akinbiyi who heads well which forces a save from Barthez which goes for a corner.
Corner taken - Barthez flapping at the corner - Barthez not looking much apart from being a leaping frog!!
Davidson is playing well - Leicester are having better possession. This looks like Akinbiyi's most confident start.
23 mins - Free kick to Man Utd - Sheringham blazes over the bar.
Eadie fouled by Johnsen midway in the united half. Free Kick - Lennon hits the ball in and Rowett tried to half volley curl into the net but
just went over the bar - great effort. Leicester are starting to get
into the game now following their weary start.
27 mins - Impey with the ball finds Izzet - Izzet fouled on the edge of
the box by Silvestre. Lennon, Davidson and Izzet over the ball. Lennon plays ball square to Davidson - strikes plenty of power- but just over the target - always rising.
31 mins - Irwin overlaps and crosses but Yorke heads out for a Goal
Kick. Impey turns well- playing well.
Man United have had two corners. Second taken short to Wes Brown - then to Silvestre who crosses and Johnsen shoots wide and high.
36 mins - Impey beats Fortune but crosses badly straight to the keeper.
Sheringham scores - ball came in from Irwin. Sheringham heads and hits the inside of the post and it goes in. Irwin is playing well. United are lucky - they aren't playing well and it is the only good chance that
they have had.
39 mins - Solksjaer with ball into the box but Fortune could not reach
the ball to slide it in. Fortunes Corner - Butt shoots but wide -Leicester are on the back foot!!
Leicester's passing is not good enough and they are getting punished for it.
43 mins - Savage to Eadie - Eadie crossed for Adi but Barthez reacts quickly to recover the ball.
Izzet seems to be limping and doesn't seem to have got into the game his ankle has struggled a lot this season.
Free Kick against Akinbiyi conceded by Wes Brown. In the corner - a bad kick from Lennon and the last action of the first half. Not an exciting half - United had a lot of possession but Leicester looking good on the break - when they get one!!!!

Second Half: - No changes for either side.

City KO.
Free Kick against Akinbiyi - The boys go up - Rowett has another shot and keeper saves into the side netting. Rowett is looking good. Corner - Elliott flicks and Eadie nearly puts in but Barthez saves. More eventful than the first half already - City have got to take their chances!!
50 mins - Free kick to Leicester - Wes Brown in Eadie's back - City looking to step up a gear. United clear from the free kick but then picked up by Impey and Savage mis directs.
52 mins - United Corner. Goes straight out for a goal kick.
Impey obstructed and another free kick to City. Barthez collects easily - Elliott claiming for free kick - claims held back by Sheringham.
Savage brought down in the box - Referee typically Man U style doesn't give it - would you believe it - Corner anyway - very poor corner from Davidson. Fortune breaks instantly and Savage tackles well.
55 mins - Irwin shoots Flowers saves well and "Square ball Sheringham" puts the ball away- all down to a bad corner from Davidson!! Referee will be happy that he didn't give the penalty and he managed to get Man U a goal as well. BONUS

Sheringham broke through and Flowers managed to push him wide but Sheringham didn't manage to take advantage. Sheringham playing well.

60 mins - Substitutes - Guppy and Cresswell on and Impey and Akinbiyi off. Could do with Stan!!
Eadie now playing on right hand side and just Cresswell playing up front on his own.
Playing 4-5-1. Rowett, Gilchrist, Elliott and Davidson at the back.

United running the show a bit now. Leicester have not managed to break forward since the changes were made. Things not looking good for Leicester. Solksjaer tries to shoot but closed down again by Elliott.
Leicester move out with Izzet - keeping possession at the moment. Cresswell tries to go round Wes Brown wins a corner. Izzet to take - takes short to Guppy crosses but ball away by Johnsen. Izzet chips ball for Rowett but doesn't reach him.
74 mins - Lennon forward to Cresswell but offside - didn't look it.

Corner for United after Yorke's shot was saved Sheringham heads and it just goes over the bar. Leicester are not coming to terms to changing the formation.
The difference between the sides is the quality of the passing!!

77 mins - Leicester Free Kick - Guppy curls and Cresswell nearly got a touch but went to Barthez.

SUBSTITUTION - Sinclair on for Izzet and Giggs on for Sheringham. Sheringham Not happy. Izzet still suffering from recent back injury.
Sinclair has gone to right back and Elliott has been pushed up front.
Elliott manages to flick on but Cresswell unable to meet the ball. More pressure from United with Flowers tipping the ball over the bar from a Solksjaer header.

Savage caught from behind - free kick taken quickly - Barthez makes a mistake and savage tries to chip but just over the bar.

80 mins - Cresswell got round the keeper and put the ball into the side netting - Leicester's best chance - would Stan have put that away?? Mmmm

Solksjaer has a volley which is again saved well by Flowers. Corner then taken by Giggs - Butt gets the ball and hits the post and goes out for a throw in. Elliott takes throw in Creswell fouled. Lennon takes the kick and nothing comes from it. Man U now looking very solid.

85 mins - Giggs crosses from corner and Yorke should have taken opportunity. In the last 5 minutes United could have 2/3 more goals. One way traffic!!

90 mins - just one goal would do lads!!
Not for Man U though - Solksjaer scores United's 3rd - we are not this classy!! Don't know how they scored it - don't care anymore!!

Manager of the month jinx hits again!!

Leicester have lost and to be honest if you are gonna lose your first game of the season - it might as well be this one - roll on next week an away win at Anfield could see us go top again.
