13th October. Filbert Street. 7.45pm.

Leicester City v Grimsby Town.

Let's Go Fishing

Peter Gilbert. 9.10.99.
Before we start looking down our noses at this opposition we must not forget that there are only two teams who have beaten us in the league cup in the last three years, one was in the final against Spurs and the other was in Round 3 when the opposition was................. Grimsby.

So let's give a little respect, it wasn't that long ago when we were playing them , and struggling, in the league.
I don't want to sound alarmist but.......we always seem to struggle against the cod roe's or the herrings or whatever they're called.    One good thing, we're at home which means we won't have to go to Cleethorpes(they don't play in Grimsby) on a wild and windy Autumn evening. However the fish and chips up there are second to none.

You can guarantee that Alan Buckley, their manager, will assemble a combative no nonsense outfit for the Filbert Street encounter in the hope that he can tarnish our pedigree and hang us out to be smoked like a kipper.

If we can stir ourselves for the occasion and put in a few players who are trying to prove themselves and win over the sceptics we stand a good chance.     So I suggest Barry Pierpoint and his cronies lining up as the back four and if they turn in a decent performance we'll consider their futures at Leicester City slightly more favourably.

In all seriousness, we'd should win at a canter, but the slightest bit of complacency and they'll be in and all over us.

Match Forecast: Narrow Home Win
