Problems
Like most second hand vehicles you don't reallty know how well they have been looked at in the past. So when
you first aquire the vehicle you most likely spend quite a bit of money trying to fix other peoples neglect.
Since buying the van in July 2005 we have spent quite a bit on it during the first 6 months.
New Fuel Tank
Whilst driving the van home after picking it up from the previous owner we filled it with fuel. Imagine our horror
when expensive petrol was pouring out of the bottom of the van!...verdict, it needed a new fuel tank
as the grommet on the filler neck where it entered the tank had perished. The part has been discountinued
so a later model tank had to be fitted.
New Clutch Pipe
Next problem we had was when the clutch pipe broke. The clutch is hyraulic so when the pipe perished it was leaking hyrdraulic fluid.
We had to have an entire new pipe made up using the old one as a template, this required our first AA callout in order to get the van to a garage in Huddersfield. At the same time we had the brake pipe that
runs the entire length of the vehicle changed too.
Service and New Steel Braided Brake Hoses
It was time for the vans first service, as we had no idea when the previous owner had serviced it last.
During the service the brake hoses were deemed to be perished so new stanless stell braided hoses were attatched as well as new ignition leads.
Replacement Water Pipes
Steel water pipes run the entire length of the vehicle taking water to a from the radiator. The steel ones
on the van, being 22 years old, were on the verge if disintegrating. So we aquired some later model plastic pipes and replaced them.
Replaced Rear Shocks
The rear shock absorbers looked like the original 23 year old ones and one in particular had rusted through. A simple 10 minute job to replace with new

Failed MOT - 2006
The poor old van failed it's MOT due to having 6 areas of corrossion. One near each jacking point, one on the passenger step and another under the drivers side rear arch
