The van had very bad lighting. VW made the headlamps to be no more than adequate and never installed a relay so quite a bit of voltage is lost, thus giving the headlights a candle powered illumination. The relective silver was also very rusty.

To combat this I purchased some good second hand Hella H4 headlamps and will soon install a relay loom.
