Dogs: Thank you to the exhibitors for a
lovely entry. I was very impressed with the quality of the exhibits, my limit
class especially being absolutely superb. My only criticism is regarding heads.
I don’t consider myself a head fanatic and indeed some less than ideal heads did
get placed based on their other overall qualities however we must not loose that
typical irish head. Many are becoming so over domed in the skull with round eyes
and pendulous flews or have extra width at the side of the eyes all giving a
coarse expression. The head should be refined and balanced with a lovely almond
shaped eye under raised brows giving that soft gentle expression. These
wonderful classic heads were few and far between today, let us not loose this
characteristic of our lovely breed.
MP(3) 1. Crocker & Hammick’s Riverbrue Dionysus BPD Easy winner of this class, A
real sweetie with straight front and neat feet, lovely head with low set ears
into long lean neck, true hindquarter movement for one so young but had to give
way to the lovely bitch for BP 2.Dent’s Marzanne’s Heat of the Moment, very raw
baby who needs time, nice type but owner and dog need more schooling. 3.
Cooper’s Corranroo Magic Trick with Hugared
P (9,2) 1.Lawrence’s McConkeys Kilwillie. Appealing head with raised brows and a
real quizzical expression, well schooled although I am sure there is a naughty
irish glint in those eyes! Excellent front but just preferred the hindquarters
of the minor pup for BPD. 2. Needs’ Covarney Mocha. Another lovely typey pup.
Attractive dark coat and pigmentation, well angulated, just a little erratic on
the move at this stage. 3. Richardson’s Kirkavagh The Ministral
J (13,3) 1. Naylor & Morrison’s Bardonhill Bardolino. Lovely type of setter with
excellent outline. He has good raised brows and dark pigmentation although a
little strong in head for me at the moment this may refine down with age. Well
boned, Love his dark rugged coat. 2. Willis’ Jacwillins Willoughby. More
moderate in type and so well put together. Handsome head with soft expression.
He has the most excellent hindquarter action on the move. 3. Prangle’s
Heathclare A Chance of Magic Special
Y (9,1) 1. Cuddy’s Balbriggan Royal Rebel JW This dog has a dream of a head. He
is so well balanced in outline finished off with gorgeous tiny feet. He has
really matured and filled out in recent months and I am sure will trouble the
best in the future. 2. Bardonhill Bardolino 3. Buchan’s Loskeran Jitterbug.
N (13) 1. Bardonhill Bardolino 2. Heathclare A Chance of Magic Mature quality
young man in good coat. Masculine head but not overdone, straight front, good
rear angulation with excellent width across the thigh. 3. McConkeys Kilwillie
G (14,4) 1. Stockton’s Kespas Infared JW Expertly handled this handsome dog is
maturing nicely. Good front assembly with straight front and tight feet. Loved
his gentle irish expression. A pleasure to watch his free flowing movement. 2.
Edward’s Henaleas Tuscany. This dog has the most striking topline flowing from
his muscular arched neck through to his well set on tail. Beautifully presented,
a credit to his owner. 3. Pickersgill’s Barleydale Huntsman with Maolruadhan.
PG (20,1) 1. Sturrock’s Forfarian Goodfella. This young man really gave his
handler a hard time but I fell for his gorgeous head expression with certain
mischief in his eyes. Shorter coupled dog well put together with excellent
substantial hindquarters and presented in fabulous coat. Exuberant on the move
but controlled. I’d rather have this than a lethargic robot! 2. Lake’s Caskeys
Checkmate. A real honest young man, very sound on the move with no
exaggerations. Just not quite a mature in hindquarters as the first yet. 3.
Partridge’s Kerrydown Look at Me
L (15,2) 1. Davie’s Lochfrae Ralph Lauren JW This impressive dog just takes my
breath away, wish he was mine! He just flows from the tip of his beautiful
classic masculine head with its soft expression, almond eyes with dark
pigmentation and georgous low set ears through his excellent laid back shoulders
presenting a clean flowing topline with no lumps or bumps down to the tip of his
tail. He has excellent rear angulation which he uses to advantage on the move.
All finished off with an impressive coat. Pleased to award him his second CC, I
am sure the 3rd cannot be far away. Awarded BOB on referee’s decision 2.
Fauvrelle’s Shaytell Andante. One I have admired from the ringside. This dog is
presented to perfection in gleaming coat and condition. He has tremendous ring
presence. Stunning outline with the most fabulous bend of stifle. Love his
stylish movement as he drives around the ring which gave him the edge for the
res CC. 3. Ciechonska’s Caskeys Concept at Aoibheanne JW.
O (8,2) 1. Lewis & Storey’s Sh Ch Lynwood Pioneer of Seadog. This dog just gets
better and better with age, he’s on top form at the moment, hard to believe he
is a veteran. He has a beautiful correctly balanced head with kind expression
and lovely almond shape eye. His outline is so balanced with clean neck and
shoulders into a slight sloping topline. Held his lovely shape and topline on
the move using his tail well, just missed out on the res cc by a whisker. 2.
Condron & Bailey’s Covarney Monello JW Sh.CM One whose praises I have sung
before and still consider him to a beautiful dog who is also a great character
and showman but was unlucky to meet 1 on top form day. He has a strong straight
front, with short strong pasterns, good body length and excellent rear
angulation. Just preferred the head and expression of winner. 3. Holley’s Sh Ch
Danaway Discreet.

move. Giving a lot away in maturity to the winner, her day will surely come. 3
Condrons and Needs Covarney Miss B Havin.
OB (6) 1 Warners Sh.Ch. Danaway Clara Belle. Most stunning bitch belying her
nine years. Unsurpassed effortless movement with that rare lashing tail- a joy
to behold. On a free stand she looked glorious, every inch the champion.
Unexaggerated and correct in body, in great muscle tone truly fit. She owns a
classically beautiful head with wistful expression. A great credit to her owner
was delighted to award her the RCC. 2 Townsends Sh.Ch Follidown Red Hot Poker.
JW. Close up beautiful example of the breed not in such good bloom as the winner
but I gather is only four months off a litter. Similar to winner in many ways,
with balance and un-exaggeration. Grand body, flowing un-broken topline,
beautiful head with mischievous eye. Such a gorgeous girl. 3 Hunter and Browns.
