Manchester 2007
Many thanks to all for making this a very special day. I
felt like a child let loose in a sweet shop, so many good dogs and bitches to
choose from. I’m only sorry that because of the time constraint, I was unable to
linger. Many puppies were erratic in their movement, which I forgave, but I was
looking, amongst other things, for free flowing, driving movement, especially in
the higher classes which, although I found in my winners, was not the case
throughout. I was pleased there were very few high tails carriages although I
noticed a lack of the gentle topline sloping from the withers which
characterises our breed and, in one bitch class in particular, there was a
distinct lack of forechests. The majority were well muscled and on the whole
beautifully presented.
MPD (13,2). Two handsome, promising puppies similar in many ways although I just
preferred the topline and expression of 1. 1 Ciechonska and Oakley’s Caspians
Monty Sunshine, lovely outline, pleasing head and expression, nicely raised
brows, well placed shoulders, good depth of chest and strong hindquarters, well
boned. 2 Willis’ Jacwilins Willoughby, attractive head and expression, well off
for bone good conformation throughout, with good angulation. 3 Waddell’s Riqitta
Dylan Thomas.
PD (14,2). 1 Bott’s Bardonhill Ginger Whinger, another promising puppy, not
exaggerated in any way, excellent, steady mover, most appealing head with a dark
eye and quizzical expression, excellent front and lay of shoulder, good depth of
brisket, good tailset. Pleased to award him Best Puppy. 2 Stubbs’ Littleplea
Lord Barnabus. Handsome boy, broader in head, but still with a soft masculine
expression, good shoulders, nicely bodied and well boned with strong
hindquarters. 3 Swainston’s Glenvarna Himself.
JD (15,5). 1 Barker-Bell’s Ballintyne Chances Are. Another excellent mover, has
a wonderful head and expression with good stop, good reach of neck flowing into
well laid shoulders, needs time to body up but with all the right essentials,
sound quarters with good bend of stifle. 2 Brownlie and Mercer’s Apollogunner
Wengers Star, a longer cast and heavier boned dog than 1 but well constructed
and well bodied with a good spring of rib, didn’t always keep his topline but
moved steadily. 3 Brown’s Caskeys Wizard.
YD (17,5). 1 Milligan-Bott and Bott’s Scoteslaw Detroit Spinner By Thendara JW
presented to perfection as always by this kennel, maturing well, soft, kind
expression, well balanced and good overall shape with good rear angulation and
excellent tight feet, a sound, effortless mover. 2 Roffey and Evan’s Danaway
Lancelot. A well balanced dog, broader in the head than 1, preferred expression
and topline of 1, good spring and length of rib with strong quarters. Moved
soundly and with drive, neat feet. 3 Evan’s Goldings Gypsy King.
GD (21,4) 1 Kniveton’s Burrenmist Hot Shot at Orstone JW. I have judged this boy
before at one of his first shows, gave him his class and best puppy then and not
disappointed today. Maturing well, pleasing head and expression, excellent,
clean neck and shoulders, leading into correct topline, which he kept on the
move, well bodied with sound driving action. 2 Stockton’s Kespas Infrared JW.
Not a lot to separate these two, just preferred the hindquarters of 1, another
beautifully balanced dog, also with correct topline also excelled in neck and
shoulders, handsome head with kind expression. another sound, positive mover
with lovely neat feet. 3 McNeil’s Glencarron Shakatak.
PGD (18,7). 1 Swainson’s Glenvarna Sungod JW Beautifully balanced dog,
appealing, refined but masculine expression, excellent front and forechest, good
ribcage, strong in loin, good rear angulation allowing him to move with drive. 2
Harrison’s Caskey’s Voyager, close decision between I and 2. but I thought 1
moved with more animation today, in good coat and condition, beautiful head and
expression, with raised brows and sufficient stop, well constructed and well
bodied. 3 Rout’s Shaytell Totem.
LD (11,0). A close decision between 1 and 2 although I felt 1 was more finished
than 2. 1 Lorrimer’s Danaway Destiny one I have admired for a long time,
immaculately presented as always, pleasing, masculine head with kind expression,
good arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders, ample forechest, good spring
of rib, good hind angulation and strength in muscling allowing him to move
effortlessly and with drive holding his topline on the move. Pleased to award
him CC and BOB. 2 Smith’s Reddins Tillerman JW, another quality dog, wonderful
Irish expression with kind eye, raised brows and chiselling, presents a balanced
outline, not exaggerated, good conformation throughout, he covered the ground
with drive, keeping his topline and using his tail correctly. Pleased to award
him RCC. 3 Fauvrelle’s Shaytell Andante.
OD (3,1). A delight and privilege to go over these two Sh Champions. 1
Milligan-Bott and Bott’s Sh Ch Thendara Don Corleone Everything has already been
written about this boy, presented and handled to perfection, had the edge today
with overall finish and balance, excellent profile, well proportioned although
longer cast than 2, strong over loin with good quarters allowing him to move
with drive. 2 Holley’s Danaway Discreet JW, I love this boy’s head, although
there is no mistaking he is a dog his expression is still soft and gentle, to me
it is the typical Irish expression, more compact than 1 but well constructed
with excellent front angulation, also moved with drive although not such strong
quarters as 1, lovely tight feet
VD (3,0). 1 Macauley’s Erilynne Andre of Stylersetts, racy 7 year old still able
to show some youngsters how to move soundly and with drive, kind, appealing
expression, well put together and not exaggerated. 2 Graydon’s Eringold Connloi
8 year old but not so positive on the move as 1, kind, masculine expression,
carrying a bit too much weight over the shoulders but with good shoulder and
rear angulation. 3 Hyslop’s Thendara Maverick Sh. CM.
MPB (22,1). What a class and what a future for the breed 1 Morgan’s Pennally
Jumeau what an adorable baby, very feminine expression, very nicely put
together, beautifully balanced, good neck and shoulders, excellent mover for one
so young, nice neat feet. 2 Oakley’s Caspians Melisande lovely type, finer young
lady than 1, preferred expression of 1, excellent racy outline with good reach
of neck, good balance and depth with excellent rear angulation, moved steadily.

expression, well balanced with attractive outline and good topline which she
kept on the move, good forechest and correct front angulation with strong
hindquarters, moved with drive and animation. 2 Watt’s Shenanagin Shooting Star
maturing into a pretty girl, although more substantial than 1 is still elegant
and well constructed, good, clean shoulders, well ribbed and with good quarters,
I preferred the topline of 1, but she moved with drive and spirit. 3 Russell
Melmara Mezza Luna.
GB (20,5). 1 Pollard’s Grayrigge Mairona JW, headed an excellent class I love
the elegance, style and quality of this bitch, exquisite head and expression,
good neck leading to well placed shoulders, well bodied with sufficient spring
of rib, good, strong hindquarters with free flowing, sound movement and
animation and good rear extension. Delighted to award her CC. 2 Hopewell’s
Davset Little Eva, well balanced bitch, more substantial than 1 but still
elegant, with nice dark eye and attractive expression, good lay of shoulder,
well bodied with good hind quarters, covered the ground with ease. 3 Hall’s
