SKC May 2006
My thanks to the exhibitors for the lovely dogs brought to
this show. I feel honoured to have been allowed to go over them. Without
exception they were clean and beautifully presented. The comments from
bystanders and my helpful stewards confirmed that the standard was very high.
There are still too many moving erratically and/or with tails flying, especially
among the males, and some handlers hinder rather than help. It is worthwhile
assessing at which speed your dog gives off its best and that is not necessarily
full gallop. It was very gratifying to have so few absentees.
MPD. (3). 1. Barry’s, Jonola Stardom at Londalloch. Very much a baby, well
proportioned. Nice dark coat. A little overawed by the occasion. 2. Sharp’s,
Hallglen Sporting Chance. A finer puppy at an ‘inbetween’ stage. Time on his
hands. 3. McLarnon’s, Lindenjo Legacy. Attractive head with good stop and eye
placement. Good front angulation with deep brisket and correct sternum which was
missing from too many exhibits, in between coats. 2. Rorke’s, Cataluna Captivate
to Zakhan. Good outline with lovely dark coat. Hope he grows on a bit. Moved ok.
3. Hinslea and Chorley-Newton’s, Kupolas Allnighter.
JD. (4). 1. McNiel’s, Glencarron Shakatak. Lovely outline, elegant and racy.
Moved with drive but proud of his tail. 2. Glasper’s, Cataluna Swedish Rhapsody
to Denetop. Nicely proportioned with good angulation back and front. Pleasing
head. Needs more ring craft. 3. Buist and Wyllie’s, Clanchnahar Alfiemoon.
YD. (6). 1. Glencarron Shakatak. 2. Blinston’s, Clonageera Shooting Star.
Correct angulation back and front giving a pleasant outline with good reach of
neck. Erratic movement. 3. Bledham’s, Mantafield Study in Red at Bowringlee.
ND. (2). 1. Buist and Wyllie’s, Clachnahar Alfiemoon. Third in Junior. Did no
co-operate on the day as was difficult to assess. 2. Flynn’s, Kirkavagh Barona
at Campisle. Very immature. In good coat and condition. Well handled.
GD. (6). 1. Ross’s, Autumn Zephyr JW. This dog is at last coming back to what I
saw in him as a Minor Puppy. Appealing head. Good neck leading into well placed
shoulders. Correct length of back. Deep ribcage. Good over the loin with very
good rear angulation. Moved with drive and precision. Very elegant. 2.
Dickson’s, Balanagowan Breakthru. Workmanlike and sound. Correct proportions and
angulation. Moved soundly but with poot head carriage. 3. Blackie’s, Delsanto
Isaih at Helecam.
PGD. (8). 1. Rose-Hay’s, Cataluna Clever Clogs. A dog who tried not to make the
best of himself, but improved all the time in the ring. Lovely head and coat.
Nicely proportioned and with correct angulation fore and aft. In hard condition.
Moved very well. 2. Blinston’s, Cataluna Mastermind. Very similar to his litter
brother the winner and the same remarks applly. Unlucky they should meet. 3.
Glithero’s, Coppershell Comic Story.
LD. (13). 1. Schofleidl and Morgan’s, Cataluna by George. I have never seen this
dog look better. Absolutely in his prime and aware of it. He showed off his
correct proportions, good angulation and swinging movement driving round the
ring as thiough he owned it. In good hard condition and lovely coat. CC. 2.
Bailey’s, Covarney Monello. A well known and worthy winner. In lovely coat and
condition and beautifully presented. Not quite the shoulder angulation of the
winner. Moved well and stylishly. 3. Ross’s, Brackenfield Righ at Autumnglow.
OD. (5). 1. Wilder’s, Riverman Joshua JW. A favourite of mine and looking very
well. Another good and true mover with the style which comes with correct
movement. RCC. 2. Rose-Hay and Gaul’s, Catalun a Nickel and Dime. One more
lovely dog from this kennel. Good conformation produces good conformation. Not
quite the quarters of winner, I preferred his head. 3. Myers’, Astrazone Special
Brew.
MPB. (5). 1. Powis’s, Amberwave Blush. Quite a tall bitch and at almost 9 months
has reached the ‘gangly’ stage. Her pretty head with good eye and ear placement
should stand her good stead as she matures. Although somewhat ‘bum-up’ at the
moment, I feel sure her topline will develope. BP. 2. Barry’s, Jonola Little
Star at Lindallocj. Another pretty baby, in good coat. All the angulation is
correct. Not quite so controlled on the move. This should come with time. 3.
Richardson’s, Tatterslee Bon Affectueux avec Montereenan.
PB. (5). 1. Powis’s, Amberwave Blush. 2. Rance’s, Kirkavagh Darara at Mayfred.
Pretty girl, as one would expect from this kennel. Smaller but well proportioned
and not exaggerated in any way. Moved ok. 3. Douthwaut and Wharfe’s, Gracewood
Royal Affair.
JB. (8). 1. Henderson’s, Sametsuz Secret Affair. I found this bitch very
appealing. Pretty very feminine head with soft expression. Correct eye and ear
placement. Nicely arched neck leading into good shoulders. Good rib spring and
angulation back and front. Gently sloping topline completed the picture. I
understand she finished her Junior Warrant on the day. Good luck for the future.
2. Lennox’s, Hartsboroune Hyacinth. A tall strongly moving bitch. Not quite so
feminine as winner. Her glamour will come with more coat. Everything about her
showed quality. 3. Drinkwater’s, Baboushka.
YB. (8). 1. Henderson’s, Samsutz Secret Affair. 2. Morgan’s, Kerrsienna a Paige
in Histpry for Deaconara JW (Imp). This is a very pretty bitch. She moved very
well as one would expect from her excellent conformation. Rather smaller than
winner but very eye catching. A worthy JW holder. 3. Wilder’s, Clonageera
Evening Star by Cataluna.
NB. (4). 1. Sametsz Secret Affair. 2. Drinkwater’s, Brabrook Baboushka. I have
admired this bitch since she was very young. Third in a good Junior class. Time
is on her side, her lovely topline and good conformation must mature well. 3.
Ellis’s, Braville Love Affair.
GB. (12). 1. White’s, Maesffynnon Yasmine at Killymadder. A new one for me, but
when I was her breeding I was not surprised I liked her so much. Very well made,
everything in proportion with good length of stdie. Pretty head, nice dark eyes
and well set ears. 2. Douthwait and Wharfe’s, Gracewood True Magic. Another
worthy JW winner. Pretty and elegant with well laid back shoulders. Fine at the
points. Good strong quarters gave her definite and strong movement. 3.
Morrison’s, Laurieston Snowdrop.
PGB. (11). 1. Cameron’s, Balnagown Ballroom Blitz JW. This bitch illustrates how
good conformation gives free and easy movement. In good coat and condition. Her
pretty head and gentle expression completed the picture. 2. Condron and
Bailey’s, Covarney Bliss. A very pretty bitch developing along the right lines.
Appealing head and a good topline. Not quite the movement of winner. 3.
McNeil’s, Glencarron Dailuane.
LB. (15). 1. Dale and Wyer’s, Aubanjon Cletic Spirit. A lovely well made bitch
with correct angulation. Good muscular condition enabled her to move with drive
and a good length of stride. Her coat is coming on well and completed the
picture. 2. Rance and Oakley’s, Caspians Modesty JW. A very feminine bitch.
Finer allthrough but by no means ‘whippity’. She appealed in head, her movement
was true and very good. 3. Berry and Morris’s, Brinara Back Seat Driver.
OB. (8). Two really lovely bitches headed this very good class. In conformation
and body proportions there was little to separate them. They both moved very
well with drive and a good length of stride. Coats and presentation were
excellent. I slightly preferred the head of winner. Her star quality shone
through. 1. Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch. Gwendariff Pop my Cork. CC and BOB. I wish she were
mine. 2. Gardner’s, Int/Ger Ch. Carnbargus Contentment. RCC. 3. Powis’s, Sh Ch.
Amberwave Spagle JW.
