What a friendly well run show. Full credit to the hard working committee. I enjoyed my day and thank my two excellent stewards who kept the wheels turning. It was a pleasure to handle so many lovely dogs and inevitably there were many close decisions. I was looking for balanced dogs with quarters to match their forehands and pushing off from the hocks. In a traditionally slow maturing breed such as ours the more rangy framed dogs are much slower to hit their best and there are some very promising dogs coming along nicely. There were not too many heads with the kind eye, chiselling and intelligent expression and type varied a bit, but overall balanced was my priority on the day. There were nails that could do with a manicure and some even bites. I was very pleased with my winner, especially the Veteran who was on sparkling form and took the CC and BIB on the referee’s decision. MPD. (7). 1. Richardson’s, Dalakhani. Super pup 6 months old. Sweet head, good ribs and width of quarters. Tight feet. Excellent gleaming coat. Moved out well. 2. Paterson’s, Wyldfire Cuchulainn for Bluestack. Lovely scopey pup. Well bodied. Nice head, lot of filling out to do. Good coat. 3. Waddell’s, Riqitta Shear Gold. Well bodied handsome dog. Refined head, good bone, ribs and coat. Preferred quarters of winner on the day. PD. (12). 1. Pike’s, Redclyst Thomas the Rymer. Balanced well bodied pup with good bone and width of quarters. Straight front and tight feet. Good head with kind expression. Well coated. Moved off well when settled. 2. Butler’s, Covarney Wait n See Rubymoon. Pretty dog, good outline and bone Lovely over shoulders. Good feet. Smooth dark coat. Moved out ok. 3. Milligan-Bott and Bott’s, Scoteslaw Detroit Spinner by Thendara. Smart little boy. Sweet head, pleasing shape giving a lot away in maturity. VD. What a lovely class. 1. Wick’s, Sh Ch. Popeswood Pie in the Sky at Birguma. Was surprised to see this boy’s age. A well balanced handsome dog with excellent conformation. Lovely clean outline with gentle slope. Strong quarters and short hocks which did their job. His head was well balanced with the kindest expression. Was in excellent full coat, rich colour. His movement was smooth and sound. Really happy. BOB and BIS. 2. McDonagh’s, Thendara Incognito Among Ronzalda. Handsome refined dog with well balanced head, good expression, lovely outline, dark eye and excellent coat. Would just prefer a little more spring of rib. Moved out well with style. 3. Lucas’s, Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch. Amberlight Firecracker JW. Lovely type. Well put together boy with good head, kindly expression and strong quarters. Well coated. Carrying a little more weight than the winner. JD. 1. Bott’s, Kirkavagh Black Tie Affair at Bardonhill JW. Striking well constructed boy, beautifully turned out. Moved out well with good chiselling to his handsome head. Preferred the topline of winner.

I would like to thank the committee for making my day so pleasurable and also for the lovely bronze Setter which they presented to me. I thought the quality of the bitches quite good but some heads are getting too narrow and are losing that lovely expression and eye brows. There were also a lot of bit flat feet which are extremely ugly. MPB. (14). 1. Quinn’s, Wickenberry Joanna. Best head in the class, dark eye. Good neck and shoulder. Well bodied, good ribs and quarters. Moved well. 2. Posselwhite’s, Danaway Lulu. Head finer than winner. Good neck and shoulders. Needs more body. Moved ok. 3.
