Midland Counties Championship Show - Irish Setters
A lovely entry with great depth of quality.
However, some things disappointed me - in addition to the
perpetual complaint of erratic movement. Too many
exhibits were overweight, which spoils the outline,
accentuates indifferent shoulders and cannot in any way be
classed as 'racy'.
There were three exhibits with a level bite, and a number
more with suspect mouths. When considering breeding
stock consideration should be given to good feet. Flat
feet are not only ugly, but impractical. Thin pads
provide no cushioning or spring. Many heads on the
males are too heavy over the skull, with short
muzzles. The standard asks for 'long and lean'.
