Irish Setter bitches
My grateful thanks to my excellent stewards on the day. Thank you to the exhibitors for a lovely quality entry to go over. In most classes I was spoilt for choice & therefore some had to go cardless. A shame that many had difficulty standing & sometimes slipping on the carpet.
V (17,2a) 1 Powis’ Sh Ch Amberwave Dazzle, loved her as a youngster & have not changed my mind. Well shaped head with true Irish expression, good arched neck leading into excellent shoulder placement, strong body & spring of rib, presented in lovely coat & condition, moving well; 2 Kavanagh’s Sh Ch Withersdale Kupola, pretty head & sweet expression, straight front, gentle topline, good tailset & angulation, moved well, in tune with her handler. Another enjoying her day; 3 Sh Ch Lynwood Promises Promises to Gimaroch, she certainly has fulfilled her promise for her owner, a lovely type of bitch, sweet head & expression with raised brow, good length of neck, great spring of rib & depth of chest, straight front. All three a credit to the breed. P (14,2) 1 Hogsflesh’s Lyngor Living Water, a very appealing young lady, caught my eye & could not deny her, pretty head & expression, well balanced for her young years, well arched neck & good shoulder placement, straight front, good ribs, & stifles, moved very soundly with confidence. In agreement with my co-judge BP – delighted – one for the future! Followed closely by 2 Hall Glennara Lehana, another promising baby, not quite so forward but much to like. Lovely head with soft expression, good topline & spring of rib, straight front, good angulation, neat feet, in lovely condition & moving well with drive; 3 Naylor & Morrison’s Anlory Crianza, very much the baby in the class but one I have admired previously. Appealed very much for type & construction, sweet head & expression, elegant in neck & good shoulders, bend of stifle & neat feet. Lovely dark coat in lovely condition. Moved well round the ring. J (15,2) 1 Hinslea Northamber Causin A Riot, quality youngster, prettiest of heads with wistful expression, straight front, good neat feet, well sprung ribs, good tailset, short strong hocks which she used to advantage on the move. Another which I feel will do well in the future; 2 Gardner ’s Carnbargus Contemplation, full of type & unlucky to meet 1 in top form. Most attractive head & eye, well shaped head, strong in neck & good shoulder placement, leading onto body with excellent spring of rib & well bent stifles. Moved well; 3 Berry & Morris’ Brinara Winter Cherry, completing a lovely trio. Very striking outline, most attractive head with raised brow, soft expression. Good front, neck & shoulder placement, mature body & lovely coat & condition. I feel all three have a bright future. Y (29,5) 1 Holley’s Danaway Briana of Wynjill, what a lovely bitch, sweetest of expressions, classic head shape, good earset, straight front, correct shoulders, gently sloping topline, good body properties, well bent stifles no exaggerations & moving very well in this hot class. Her breeder must be delighted; 2 B Winter Cherry; 3 Muir’s Romarne Hayley, pretty head with dark eye & raised brow, well arched neck leading into good shoulders, great spring of rib, lovely dark coat & good bend of stifle. Another very good moving bitch. UG (20,6) 1 B Winter Cherry; 2 L Living Water; 3 Hopewell’s Davset Bonne De Fleur, attractive head with kindly expression, good neck & shoulder, straight front, gentle topline & adequate stifles. Moved well. G (23,3) 1 Chorley-Newton & Chorley’s Outfoxed by Kerryfair, full of type, owns the prettiest of heads with true Irish expression, good straight front with lovely neat feet, excellent shoulder placement & spring of rib, correct tailset, good muscletone. Another really sound mover; 2 Bott’s Bardonhill Cutie, well named! Loved her well shaped head & soft expressive eyes, good reach of neck & body properties, balanced outline, well angulated rear. Sound movement; 3 Edden’s Meadway Maddison, lovely head & eye with kind expression, good neck & shoulder placement, body strong & ribs well laid back. Well bent stifles which she used to advantage on the move. PG (17,3) 1 Weller’s Bambarella Freedom, a very pretty headed bitch with soft eye & expression, not disappointed to go over her as she is very well made & everything flows. Strong neck & good shoulders, ribs well sprung & good depth of chest, her coat was in super condition. A really good mover; 2 Wilkins’ Margertwoods Kitty Cat, very pretty headed bitch, soft expression, raised brows, straight front, neat feet, strong in body & great spring of rib, moved really well. Only disappointed that she had dropped coat but I could not deny her this placing; 3 Nevitt’s Romarne Jessica, one I have done well in the past & have not changed my mind. Unfortunate to meet the previous two in good form. Prettiest of heads & kindly expression, good in neck & shoulder placement, lovely spring of rib & good depth of body, tail well set on & well bent stifles, very good mover. I feel all three will trouble the best in the future. ML (23,8) 1 Morgan’s Kerrsienna A Page In History for Deaconara, very feminine bitch, prettiest of heads which is well shaped with soft expressive eye, good front with tight elbows, nicely arched neck & good shoulder placement. Lovely outline, strong body with good ribcage & depth, correct tailset. Sound free mover; 2 Pickersgill’s Barleydale Lulu with Maolruadhan, another quality exhibit with lovely head & quizzical expression, good front angulation, plenty of forechest, good neat feet, body properties & spring of rib, tail carried correctly & moved round the ring with drive; 3 Bluesprings Skylark, unfortunate to meet the previous two. Good size & type, sweet feminine head with that wistful expression, gently sloping topline, well sprung deep ribs, in lovely condition & moved very well. L (26,7) 1 Berry & Morris’ Brinara Backweat Driver, has the most eyecatching outline, lovely head & eye with low set ears, very good angulation, good depth of chest with correct topline & tailset which was held correctly on the move, coat in wonderful condition. One of the best movers of the day. Congratulations on the all-important third CC; 2 Meadows & Ritchie’s Clonageera Rhapsody, another quality bitch with a classic outline, prettiest of heads & such a soft melting expression, well balanced throughout. Strong neck & good shoulder placement leading into good body & bend of stifle, neat feet & very good movement; 3 Vallance’s Braidmount Georgie Girl, loved her head & expression, good neck & shoulder, strong body & good tailset, in lovely condition. Just slightly lacking in bend of stifle but this did not deter on the move. Another very good moving bitch. O (23,6) 1 Muir’s Sh Ch Romarne Melissa, a beautiful bitch of quality who filled my eye completely, very well known with many wins to her credit, possesses a lovely head with dark expressive eyes, raised brows & low set ears, a strong bitch with elegant neck, good front & plenty of heartroom. Very good shoulder angulation, tremendous spring of rib, gently sloping topline & correct tailset, correctly held on her effortless movement. A pleasure to go over and no hesitation in awarding the CC; 2 Henderson ’s Sh Ch Sametsuz Honey Trap, she certainly trapped me! Lovely type with prettiest of heads, soft eye expression & raised brow, good reach of neck leading into good shoulder placement, good angulation, moved with animation & drive. Delighted to give her RCC; 3 Drinkwater’s Sh Ch Brabrook Red Rose, a lovely bitch to go over, quality with substance, feminine head, balanced throughout, clean in neck & good shoulders, firm topline, well set on tail & good bend of stifle. In lovely condition & moving well on the day. GC (14) 1 B Winter Cherry; 2 Mitchell’s Covarney Waltzing Matilda; 3 Tannymack Could It Be Magic at Heathclare.
