At approximately 1015hrs on 21 August 2000 a tornado
was seen on the Humber Estuary just south of Cleethorpes town, North East
Lincolnshire in the UK. The tornado was about a mile of the coastline and slowly
moved up the estuary. It lasted for roughly 30 minutes and was 100 - 150 feet in
height.
It was seen by hundreds of people who were on the seafront area
and also it could be clearly seen from further in land. It is believed
that this was the first large tornado ever seen in Cleethorpes.
The
coastguard reported that there had been no injuries caused and that it had
sucked water up to form an impressive and amazing waterspout.
