beinnalligin

Beinn Alligin. Torridon, Scotland. Images only.
April '03. I'd always wanted to climb this mountain group having seen some spectacular helicopter footage of it on TV. With Nick Weir. I've included a couple of pics from the web.

beineighe

Beinn Eighe. Torridon, Scotland. Images only.
May '03. A picture of the great Beinn Eighe ridge hangs on my wall at home but I'd never been on the mountain. Storms were forecast so Nick Weir and I packed our waterproofs and set off early to do the whole ridge.

bennevis

Ben Nevis. Fort William, Scotland. Narrative with images.
March '01. Brent Curless and I climbed over Carn Mor Dearg, round the Carn Mor Dearg arete and over the summit of the highest peak in Britain. Snow and ice on a brilliantly clear winter day.

greatwilderness

Great Wilderness. Kinlochewe, Scotland. Narrative with images.
April '00. An 8 day trek exploring this wild mountainous area in the far North of the Scottish highlands. A dying scanner produced the rather poor quality images.

kintail

Kintail Scotland. Narrative with images.
December '00. A short winter break in the snow covered highlands. Highlights included a great day out on the Five Sisters ridge and a visit to the enormous Falls of Glomach. A knackered old scanner produced these scrappy pics.

stobcoirenanlochan

Stob Coire Nan Lochan Glencoe, Scotland. Images only.
Winter mid '90s. In the icy NC Gully we climbed right through the clouds. Fantastic views in the crystal clear air above the clouds. With John Coward (JC), Dave Offley and his friend Jules. I've used a couple of pics off the net to show more of the gully.

tryfan

Tryfan Snowdonia, North Wales. Images only.
July '03. The guide book said 'the most inspiring and well known route on Tryfan'. Grooved Arete is a 560ft V. Diff rock climb on the steep east face. With Nigel Wadsworth and Nigel Offley on a bright sunny day.

aiguilleduchardonnet

Aiguille du Chardonnet
Mont Blanc massif, France. Narrative and images.
On the Forbes Arete I was struck by lightning with my climbing partner John Coward near the summit. We were paralysed by the strike. It turned a classic alpine climb into a frightening struggle to get down safely.

couverclehut

Couvercle Hut Mont Blanc massif, France. Images only.
This climbing hut is magnificently situated in the heart of the Mont Blanc range. The route involves a walk up the huge Mer De Glace glacier and then a climb to nearly 9000ft.

incatrail

Inca Trail Peru, South America - Narrative and images.
Mid 90s. 5 days on the Inca Trail. A deservedly popular and famous trek throught the Peruvian Andes. What a finale, arriving at the fabled Inca city of Machu Picchu. A tired old scanner produced the rather poor quality images.

matterhorn

Matterhorn Zermatt, Switzerland. Narrative and images.
Summer '89. An unforgettable 24 hours on what is perhaps the most photographed peak in the world. It's 4478m (14691ft) high and one of the highest peaks in the Alps. With Steve Masztalir and Tony Foden.

picodaneto

Pico d'Aneto Benasque, Pyrenees, Spain. Narrative and images.
September '01. The highest mountain in the Pyrenees. It's 3404m (11,168ft) high and on the French/Spanish border. A special day out in perfect weather. Mandy and I were with Sarah and Kevin Taylor.

zinalrothorn

Zinalrothorn near Zermatt, Switzerland. Narrative and images.
Summer '89. A fantastic route up a spectacular alpine peak. We didn't quite make the top 4221m (13848ft) and it's been bugging me ever since. However we had a very exciting day on it.
