In the early 70's, aged only 15, Dave played in various rock and funk bands in the pubs and clubs of Glasgow and Lanarkshire. In 1979, he gave up guitar entirely to pursue business opportunities. 25 years later in 2004, an unplanned visit to a music shop saw him leave with a Fender Stratocaster and he has been playing again ever since.

Apart from The Delsonics, he also plays lead guitar in his own Rhythm n' Roll Blues Band. Musical heroes are too many to list but include Peter Gabriel, Paul Kossoff, Gustaf Mahler, Robben Ford, Elvis Costello.
