WELCOME

TO

GEOFF AND JEAN'S

HOMEPAGE

I know my place                    Management

Geoff and Jean met at a very romantic location - the Grand Union Canal in Uxbridge, in the early 1960s when Jean joined the Colne Canoe Club.  Being the only girl, she was very popular and all the boys set to and built her first canoe. (All except Geoff that is!)

They were engaged within a year and then started saving, helped by Geoff having temporary postings to such exotic places as Stornoway, Shetland, Cologne, Berlin, and Rome.

Young Love!

Signing the Marriage register

They  were married in November 1964, and purchased their first house in College Town, moving to Bracknell in 1971, and to Yateley in1974.
Their first son, Alan, was born in September 1968, and Christopher was born in January 1975
The family is completed by Christopher's children, Matthew, Emily, and Euan and Alan's daughters Mab and Rowan..

On board Concorde G-BOAA

And this is how they celebrated Jean's fortieth birthday.

24 hours away from home, including 11 hours in New York.

Out on Concorde, and back by Boeing 747, with an upgrade to First Class.

Much of their spare time has been taken up with voluntary work, especially since Geoff took 'early retirement' in 1993.

In  Yateley, they served on the committee of the local RNLI Branch for 15 years as Committee Members, Box Secretary, Secretary, and Chairman.  Although they are no longer active members of the Branch, they still help out when they can, and try to visit any Lifeboat Stations when on holiday.  The Swanage Lifeboat website is well worth a visit, and is updated within hours of a launch taking place.

They have also been active in the 'Lifesaving' field for over 20 years as teachers and assessors although Jean has recently stepped down from this.

Jean's main hobby is now the construction of Dolls Houses and the associated miniatures.

Geoff also likes to visit 'real' railways, and the websites in the links at the head of this page are well worth a look.

They are both currently researching their family history.
