"Warthog Promotions was established in 2005 for the purpose of promoting live music in Lowdham. It is run by Mike & Jacky Hoare and Peter Hunt, all residents in the village. The three of us love the excitement of live music and have become increasingly aware of the huge amount of talent that is 'out there'. We are keen to give the residents of Lowdham, surrounding villages and further afield the opportunity to enjoy quality performances at reasonable prices, without the need to visit big cities and large venues." Click here to visit the website. A site to promote YOUR band!
The site is open to all genres of music,
but its focus will be cajun, zydeco, folk and roots.
Site features at the moment include up to date gig lists, and 'Streaming Radio' whereby all tracks are streamed, randomly, to internet listeners. The streaming also includes a 'jingle' every couple of tracks, so there is also an opportunity to insert adverts in that space instead. If there is any particular event, or track that wants promoting, let me know. Other features coming soon are guestbooks, listeners comments, user uploadable giglists, and, by early next year, 'commerce', whereby users can sell there music. How this will work I've not decided yet, but my thinking at the moment is that I will take orders via the website, then manufacture CDRs of the compilations required. Obviously we would arrange a split of the revenue as I need to cover costs etc., but be assured that I am not expecting to become a millionaire through this, but if I can recover the costs of running this website, that would be a start :-)
So, if you are interested in another
way to promote your band and music, go to
www.motagator.net/signup.php,
sign in, logon, then simply build a website using one of the themes
available. Then uploads songs, images and messages.
You'll get 20MByte of webspace, enough for a couple of 'hifi' MP3s and several 'lofo' ones, pictures and text. (More webspace can be allocated if required). Can I recommend that 'hifi' MP3s are at 160KBits/S, and 'lofi' MP3s are at 24KBit/S, so as to provide consistancy across the site.
Alternatively, if you are interested, but
don't think you have the time to maintain 'another' website, let me know
and once its set up, I could maybe maintain it for you, (providing you
keep me updated with gigs and tracks etc.).
OK - That's all. Hopefully you'll take a
look and let me know what you think.
