PETER JEANS - Ranger for the Weyside Greenway
I am a 69-year-old "silver cyclist" and I live with my wife, Veronica, in south Farnham.  Cycling has been a large part of my life for the past 12 years and since I retired, 9 years ago, I use my bike as my main form of local transport.  Although Farnham is supposed to be hilly, I find that most places can be reached without too much puff, if you know the local lanes and alleys.  I also use my bikes for daily exercise, shopping and pleasure rides in the local countryside with friends.  My friends and I have also had a lot of fun taking part in the London to Brighton ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
I joined Cycles Rights Network (Farnham) because it is an organisation working with Surrey County
and Waverley Borough Councils to provide cycle routes in and around Farnham.  I believe that
Farnham desperately needs a network of cycle routes that will give easy and safe access to
schools, the centre of the town and routes to the surrounding countryside.  The time taken up by
Cycle Rights Network is minimal and my work as a route ranger coincides with my daily rides.
I would encourage anyone who wishes to see cycling encouraged as a form of pleasant exercise
and local transport to join and add your influence where it counts.

THOMAS LANKESTER - Ranger for Scholars Ride Greenway, FCN webmaster
I am a 43 year old "commuting cyclist", living with my wife and son in Upper Hale, north Farnham.  Since first moving to Farnham 13 years ago, I have commuted to work in south Farnham, the town centre and currently travel 15 miles a day to and from work in Southwood, Farnborough.  Doing most of my travelling and shopping by bicycle frees up our car for my wife and son, saves a bundle of money and keeps me reasonably fit.  Not forgetting the kick I get out of whizzing past a line of jammed traffic!
I am keen to promote development of comprehensive, convenient and safe cycle facilities across Farnham and Waverley Borough.  Further afield, I have experience of cross-border issues through my contacts with Rushmoor Borough Council and the East Hants Cyclists Forum.
I became active in cycle campaigning because I want my son to grow up with the freedom and
independence that I enjoyed as a boy cycling around town and in the countryside.
