Our Origins

The Brent Church was founded in November 1962 with the amalgamation of the "East Hill Mission" and "The Brent Mission". It has since been a place of worship and service providing many important community services to the surrounding area.

Our Building

The Church building was originally just one hall which was known locally as 'The Brent Mission Hall'.

After the Second World War, a new hall and vestry were added to the side of the first using old prefabricated Canadian army buildings. These still exist today as the Mitchell Hall and Vickery Room.

In 1962, work was completed on the Main Church building which incorporated a new minister's vestry and Choir Vestry. These are still in use today as the Steward's Vestry and Church Lounge respectively.

A small room was built inside the Westcombe Hall during the late 1980s. This is used for small Sunday School classes and other such activities and is known as The Manning Room.

In 1995, extensive works were carried out at the rear of the premises to rebuild the kitchen and toilets to meet the new health and hygiene laws. As a part of this work, a new Minister's Vestry was added and the Vickery room enlarged. A new lobby was also built between the Mitchell and Westcombe halls.

In 2004, two new disabled toilets were built, one in the front of the church and a second at the rear of the lower halls. These facilities provide a long desired facility for our disabled visitors and also help us to meet the new disability laws.
