Booths Yard
Booths Yard, formerly Hammerton Fold is in Lowtown opposite
Manor House Street. The Buildings in the yard date back to the
17th century. The buildings were almost derelict until Mr.
Prideaux bought them for restoration in 1981. A group of
volunteers restoring the buildings, led by Andrew McDermid
discovered part of a medieval workshop. The buildings are now
occupied by small businesses and crafts people. The yard is
still sympathetically maintained.
