The Big Green Gathering    1st - 5th August 2007

 preview

The Big Green Gathering has become the biggest and brightest environmental event in the British calendar.  Music and a multitude of eco-attractions make up this 5 day fun festival.  On the edge and brimming with ecological New Age consciousness, it's a magnet for eco-greenies from all over Britain looking for a good time.

The Elemental/Eden People Big Green Gathering Team will be there so…

Join our organic collective of spiritually off centre christo-centric pilgrims, assembling at the Big Green Gathering to celebrate the creative properties of God Life in us.

This mixture of young and old, poets, healers and generally nice people have created a small venue for you to come and relax in, have a cuppa’ something nice along with a foot/hand wash and a massage along with healing moments and words of insight just for you.

Stories by the fireside, the mystical chair of blessing, comfy cushions maybe a sofa and our flavoursome fruit teas are also a distinct possibility.

Let’s paint our spiritual hues and tones on a broad canvas of community love, giving you the excuse to join us on our journey to the Heart of Joy and Peace.

Armed with energised hearts of love we'll live out our spirituality and community love from a small venue, shining our God Light into lives.  Our goal, to engage with the other festival Gatherers and let the light of God's love shine out of us into them.

A creatively communal and festival friendly way to share the love of God.

Smiles, hugs and everything else we do is free!!!!!!!  VISIT US IN THE ESP (ethics, spirituality and philosophy) field

If you can get a signal call/ text 078 662 47 919 to meet for tea or grab a person who knows where we are and demand to be taken to our venue!

Come and Connect!

The Big Green Gathering 2007 - A festival without rain and mud!

The Big Green Gathering in the Mendip Hills Somerset is a meeting point for over 20,000 people from many different backgrounds, philosophies and faiths.

The focus is on ecology and spirituality and there was a desire to change lives and lifestyles to create more peace and to look after the planet.

The site had no major electrical power source and there were different areas:

  • Healing field
  • Earth Energies
  • Ethics, Spirituality and philosophy
  • Market place
  • Green Futures
  • Farming
  • Permaculture
  • Cafes and bars
  • Horse drawn camp
  • Tipi field

Within these areas there was space to discuss, take part, create, rest and engage with other people. All the above along with some great dry and sunny weather created a very relaxed and chilled out festival. As there was a big focus on spirituality this fostered an openness to ask, seek and experience things from any spiritual perspective.

As it transpired we met many people who had some sort of Christian heritage and had either been hurt by church, had various gifts that the church would not recognise.  Within the outworking of New Age spirituality, Pagan & Eastern philosophies and alternative travelling culture these people found refuge, friendship, community and a place to be who they are.

It was within the Ethics, Spirituality and Philosophy field that Eden People from Guildford, Elemental from Bristol and some very enthusiastic & encouraging local people created a small space FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THIS EVENT in which to meet people.  Due to the late decision to allow us in (4 weeks approx to get a team, kit and ideas together) we managed to have a wonderful time meeting many people over the six days of the festival; rough estimates say that we engaged with 250 -300 people over the six days.

Over six days 14 of us managed to run the venue and support each other in and through cooking, praying and working together for the sake of our visitors

What we as a team were offering:

  • A place of rest and relaxation – a fire, cushions and a sofa!
  • Free massage, foot & hand washing
  • Free fruit & drinks
  • Discussion space
  • Prayer for healing and blessing including the ‘Mystical chair of Blessing’
  • Suitably designed hand outs
  • The feel of community – as a team we ate and worked together

As said there was an incredible openness to talk, discuss and experience spiritual things and this led to so many great conversations, opportunities for prayer and people experiencing the real love and power of the Spirit of Christ.  For all of us this was the first time we had undertaken ministry at this event and overall we found this to be a great place to be and a place where Christ’s Spirit was present and accessible to all.

We hope that you will be encouraged by this and maybe you’d like to put the Big Green Gathering 2008 in your diary!?

See you all soon maybe?
