After her husband's retirement as Baptist Minister in Seion, Gorseinon and Penuel, Loughor, June had the opportunity to do some voluntary work. The Alzheimer's Society is a charity she has always admired, some members of her family having experienced the disease.

She is a State Registered Nurse and became a volunteer at The Lodge after reading a poster appeal for volunteers in Siloam Chapel.

As the most recent member of The Lodge, she describes herself as "the dogsbody" but she is learning new things each week and enjoying it.
