Christmas Letters from the Sinclairs

Each year for many years we have written a brief report of the year gone by, for the bettering of our memories and the titillation of our friends.  Apart from their immediate purpose, they also provide us with a brief resume of our life since 1986.  We have now brought all the years onto the internet to satisfy a waiting world. Clever clogs will recognise an increasing technical standard and increased personal harassment as the years go by. [Don't worry if you can't, no more can I.]

Click on the year you would like to see.

Christmas 1986  This was our first attempt - the pattern for all the others

Christmas 1987  The year of the big flit

Christmas 1988  Hospitals, wedding and jobs

Christmas 1989  Steven off to England

Christmas 1990  First signs of old age

Christmas 1991  Woking, Sheffield and Singapore

Christmas 1992   Foreign holidays and the big operation [Everything taken away.]

Christmas 1993   Forty years balancing the books and off to America

Christmas 1994   Feeling poorly and looking for a house

Christmas 1995   America, Mason-Dixon, Crainlarich. Is there no end?

Christmas 1996   Patty again, Austria and I think of retiring

Christmas 1997   Paris, Pennsylvania, and back to Bearsden

Christmas 1998   Fully retired and on to the next generation

Christmas 1999   Another of the same boring years

Christmas 2000   Home for the holidays and staying put

Christmas 2001   Forty years before the mast and what to show for it

From 2002 on we started to insert photographs, having finally mastered [well, faintly grasped] the technique required. Some turned out well, some are plain awful and many of our loved ones refuse to speak to us. But they are certainly better coloured on the screen than in black and white on the hard photocopies.

Christmas 2002  A busy life and a holiday in Ayr

Christmas 2003  Ayr Academy and walking on one leg

Christmas 2004  Positive profusion of holidays

Christmas 2005  How to be happy doing nothing

Christmas 2006  Steven returns, new roof, no holiday

Christmas 2007  Growing old but still alive

Christmas 2008  Working ourselves to death

Christmas 2009  Old age is creeping in
