Approach using the A1 which by-passes both Gateshead and Newcastle on the West.
From the North I believe the arena is signed from the A1 but I don't know this route. If in doubt stay on A1 and follow the directions from the South.

From South. Take slip road for A184 signed Gateshead, Newcastle Centre. This is BEFORE both the Metro Centre and crossing the river i.e.still in Gateshead.
In approx 1 mile use outside lane leading to flyover onto the bridge over River Tyne. The Arena can be seen on left. At the end of the bridge fork left to mini-roundabout. If you want free, non-patrolled car parks then turn left here then left again and there are a number of car parks in the area under the bridge.

The arena patrolled car park - cost 2 pounds (at the moment) - go straight on at this mini roundabout to traffic lights. At lights turn left, pass under railway bridge and immediate left into car park.
When leaving this car park turn right immediately after passing under railway bridge. As you travel along this road you arrive at a T junction with car showroom on you right. Although you are going straight on you do NOT have the right of way. Pass under the road bridge you arrived on, take 3 left turns and you are back on the road you came in on. At the end of the bridge use the right hand lane for fly-over. (From exit to Arena car park DO NOT continue to traffic lights and turn right unless you want to get lost in Newcastle as you can't easily turn back onto the bridge over the river from this road.)
