NEW Travel Planner
The Cardiff Devils Ice House as it is known is situated in the city centre. So on arrival in Cardiff head for the city centre, (it's well signposted). If arriving by train or bus then on exiting Cardiff Central head for the Holiday Inn. Ask anybody, it's not more than a two minute walk. The Rink is opposite the Holiday Inn and behind Toys R Us. Car parking is easy as there are many multistories in the vicinity.
The Rink itself has a capacity of 2500 and I would advise purchasing a ticket well before the game as many games are sold out. Though for the bigger games a number are sold on the night if you want to queue for them.
If you, like me, want a good pint of real ale before the game then may I recommend the local brew, Brains (S.A, Light or Dark) These three are sold at many pubs in the city, one particular favorite watering hole of mine is called the Duke of Wellington which is handily situated across the road from the rink on the corner of Caroline St. (The Kings Cross on the other corner is a gay bar if you prefer). Caroline St also houses my fave pre/post match snack of chicken curry off the bone and chips, from a place affectionately known as Dirty Dots,(The Dorothy Fish Bar). If your tastes are a little more refined then there are many different restaurants in the area.
ALTERNATE ROUTE
thanks to Craig Thomas
Turn off the M4 at J29? ( it is the first one past Newport)
The M4 effectively forks so take the left fork down the
A/M48 ( a long dual carriageway) 3-4 miles.
Take the exit marked city centre.
Onto the roundabout and take the second left (alongside the down route of the flyover).
You should see a Currys shop on your left after a few hundred yards.
Stay on that road for about a mile but then be in the left hand lane as
this is where it gets difficult.
Look for a Comet store on your left, you will also see some Traffic
lights -
turn left there.
Don't turn left before the Comet.
Go straight over the first set of lights, past the University buildings.
At the traffic lights (not pelican crossing) go straight over to the
left hand lane and go left at the next lights.
Follow the road around to the left but be in the right hand lane.
At the traffic lights turn right (you will probably have to wait a long time
here, and look at the railway bridge and Hypervalue shop on your left to confirm
you are in the right place.
Keep going straight on this road and do not turn off - check lane
markings.
Go over a few sets of lights then you will see Toys R Us on the left, and after
that the rink.
Follow the road round the rink as the car park is behind it.
The NCP car park is safe but not cheap.
