Jim Allen 20 years a Capri owner was on his third Capri when John a old friend turned up in a gleaming red Capri laser, John worked with Nigel who owned a black Capri. John also knew Rick who not wanting to be left out traded his Escort in for a white Capri. The first meeting was in August 1999 at the Mill House pub in Thatcham. Rick knew Tony who also had a Capri (no surprise there then) and invited him along to the pub. Jim became chairman and Tony secretary and the Newbury & Thatcham Capri Club was born. The club grew from then and held its meetings at the mill house until karaoke was introduced to the pub. The meetings were then moved to the Berkshire Arms these continued until this was converted in to a restaurant. We then moved to our present venue, The Five Bells, Woodspeen, Newbury. The club is dedicated to keeping the Capri legend alive. We have 30 members from Newbury, Thatcham, Reading, Swindon, Kingsclere, Tadley, Hungerford, Basingstoke, Wantage, Didcot, Camberley and London. We attend a large number of shows each year, which include Ford Fair, Uxbridge, South Cerney, Wessex, Newbury and many more.
