Restoration For All Wood Framed Vehicles

RESTORATION

Often, a vehicle which appears to require a replacement body frame may be saved by carefully splicing-in new wood for old. This course of action will retain much of the old frame, although more damaged cases call for more extensive treatment.

A frame can be looked at in four main sections:

  • ... front scuttle
  • ... rear body section
  • ... roof
  • ... and door frames

For a complete frame restoration each component part is taken out of the frame and, where possible, restored and refitted in sequence.

ORIGINAL DESIGNS FROM MARK MOORE

MGM Coachbuilding offers a design service for the construction of 'specials'. These are custom-designed frames created to address the challenges of individual vehicles.

For an unmistakably classic look for a genuine classic car, great care must go into the aesthetic considerations. However, beauty must be balanced with functionality, and Mark Moore pays particular attention to the basics, such as the positioning of doors and seats.

New designs can be based on a client's own ideas - even when these are ideas are expressed only as sketches on the back of an envelope. MGM Coachbuilding takes particular delight in creating new body designs that realise a client's own visions.

Regular consultation over all aspects of a new design is actively encouraged in the production of a truly 'special' automobile.

TRIM

MGM Coachbuilding welcomes enquires for interior woodwork:

  • Dashboards (and glovebox doors)
  • Door cappings
  • Gear stick knobs
  • Light bezels
  • Window liners
  • Winder bezels
  • Panels for upholstery
  • Door panels
  • Kick-plates
  • Parcel shelves

Other trim features are available where required. Most interior trim jobs can be done by mailing any sections for repair or replacement (including veneering).
