RICK

This is a track I made from 6mm stainless steel rod.

It means he can roll around all day without just rolling into the corner of the RJP and getting stuck.

It is about 560mm in diameter, with a 40mm gap between the rails. Now I know it works I think I will try and hang it from the ceiling of my office. The only problem will be getting it steady enough!

Here you can see quite clearly the layout. The SE on the left under the solar cell, soldered directly to the leads of the 4700uf cap.

Here you can see how short the gearbox shaft is, I think it was cut off some time ago to be used for something else but never was !

You can see the large black gear that was pushed onto the input shaft and just meshes with the motor gear.

You can just see the small pulley that is glued to the inside of the ball that the output shaft fits tightly into.

The solar cells where supposed to be at about 30 degrees down from the horizontal on each side but the way the ball sits, one is almost horizontal and the other at about 60 degrees.

What look like loops of wire on each side are the power leads from the cells doubled back on themselves and attaching to the cap leads.

This is the brass and plastic tube arrangement which just slides over the output shaft giving support to the whole assembly.
